Tanya was born on the 26th of April, 1996 in the metropolitan city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She happens to be the granddaughter of the popular Tamil actor Ravichandran. After watching her grandfather’s work in the field of acting, she soon started showing immense interest in acting from a tender age. Tanya, along with her sister Apparajitha, learnt Bharatanatyam from their mother Lavanya Sriram, who was a trained classical dancer. Since their teenage days both the sisters started performing in several recitals in the city of Chennai. Tanya achieved her Bachelor of Commerce degree from M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women in Chennai and soon thereafter she pursued her Masters degree from the Madras School of Social Work.

Tanya soon auditioned for a movie that was scheduled to be directed by Myskin during which her name was changed by the director after seeking her permission. This was in the early part of the year 2016 and Tanya was cast opposite a fellow debutant Maitreya. However, this movie was later postponed in order to allow Myskin to complete the entire production work of Thupparivaalan in the year 2017. Radha Mohan, another film director, decided to screen test Tanya after hearing that she was chosen by Myskin for a movie.
The screen test was for the movie Brindavanam in the year 2017. However, Tanya’s first movie to be officially released was Balle Vellaiyathevaa in the year 2016. The movie was basically a rural comedy drama, which also included Sasikumar as her co-star, along with Leesha. The movie was directed by P. Solai Prakash. Tanya has also acted with several other popular actors that includes Thalaivasal Vijay, Arulnithi, Doubt Senthil, Vivek, and Sharath Lohitashwa. Her performance in several movies were well appreciated by film critics, especially in Brindavanam. This movie was also one of the best movies of the year 2017.
Tanya had recently signed up for a movie in which she will be paired opposite Sibiraj and the movie is named Maayon. This movie was to be directed by N Kishore. Tanya went on to say that after hearing the story from the film makers, she knew she had to be a part of it all. The movie was all about a team of archeologists, who were on a mission to unearth the secret of an age old temple.
