Sunny Deol’s small screen debut on TV, Jaanbaaz a stunt based reality show is getting delayed once again. Some say the show will be altogether done away with due to some technical snags which resurfaced. Sources say the production company Colosseum brought top Bollywood stunt men for the program episodes and they are required to fight among themselves to direct their own sequences for a Bollywood film along with a cash prize. The organizers planned for 15 episodes.
In December last year, the channel — Zee TV — had implied that the show would go on air soon after the Indian Premier League ended. However, there has been no news since then, even though the show was first announced two years ago. Meanwhile, Dance India Dance Li’l Masters has already come on air. It will be followed by Shaabash India’s next season and a new game show.
Insiders say that Jaanbaaz’s makers, who shot episodes with normal cameras, were being pushed to re-shoot everything on HD (high definition) cameras. Zee TV and the production house even toyed with the idea of re-shooting all the 25 episodes, which were filmed on lavish sets and scenic locations within Maharashtra, from scratch. But that probably didn’t work out.
A close source says, “Earlier it was the rains and technical glitches that didn’t let us complete the show. Now there are problems with Sunny’s dates. He’s been busy with other work and hasn’t allotted time to the producers to complete the shoot. Now it’s up to the channel to decide what should be done with the footage we have already shot and whether the show will ever see the light of day.” Though all this is speculation, none from Zee TV or Colosceum are available for confirmation.
Spokespersons at Zee TV and Colosseum were not willing to comment.
