Australian hard rock band AC/DC have finally put their entire music catalogue for sale on the digital retailer, iTunes.
Their capitulation, after vowing for the past four years that they didn’t want fans to be able to ‘cherrypick songs’ through music sites, comes as they release Live At River Plate, their first concert release in two decades.
Previously, frontman Brian Johnson and band co-founder Angus Young had been vehemently opposed to putting their music online, insisting it was “about making money” and not preserving the artistic intent of the album format, TheTelegraph.com.au reports.
“It’s like an artist who does a painting. If he thinks it’s a great piece of work, he protects it,” Young had said in 2008.
According to the report, as well as fans being able to download AC/DC tracks for 2.19 dollars and albums for 16.99 dollars, there are boxed set collections so that listeners can stay faithful to the band’s ethos and buy all the records together at once for 229.99 dollars, the report said. (ANI)
