Robert De Niro also has a long association with the French Festival when he was nominated as the president twice during the eighties. A Robert De Niro starrer film Taxi Driver grabbed the Palme d’Or in 1976. Robert De Niro’s last film that was screened at the festival was What Just Happened in 2008. The film was a satire and the climactic scene was based on the festival itself. The festival of 2008 also came to an end with the screening of What Just Happened.
