Ravi graduated from the National School of Drama in New Delhi. Since then he has worked in several movies and television shows till date. He made his debut in Indian cinema from the movie Chameli Ki Shaadi that released in the year 1986. This was a comedy movie directed by Basu Chaterjee and it featured Amrita Singh and Anil Kapoor. Some of these television programs and shows include Tenali Rama on Doordarshan, Yatra on Doordarshan, Aahat on Sony, Byomkesh Bakshi also on Doordarshan, Hitler Didi, Junoon, Bharat Ek Khoj, and Savdhaan India on Star Plus. Ravi has also worked in a documentary during his career known as Bharat Ek Khoj.
Coming back to some of the successful movies in which Ravi Jhankal has worked, one common name that pops up is Welcome to Sajjanpur. Made by Shyam Benegal, the movie released in the year 2008 and was basically a comedy movie. Welcome to Sajjanpur featured Amrita Rao and Shreyas Talpade in the lead roles.
Mangal Pandey: The Rising is another prominent movie in which Ravi had worked. Although his role was a small one in the movie, it was worth noticing. Mangal Pandey was a historical biographical movie about the life of Mangal Pandey who was an Indian soldier in the British army and was the prime person to lead the Indian rebellion of 1857. The movie was directed by Ketan Mehta and had Aamir Khan as Mangal Pandey. The movie got released in the year 2005 and was also the fourth highest grossing movie of the year.
