3 idiots Movie Review – 3rd Review
Movie Review: 3 idiots; Starring: Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, Sharman Joshi & Boman Irani; Director: Rajkumar Hirani; Rating: **** – Your 3 hours worth spent.
Farhan (Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman), 10 years after they have finished their engineering from India’s most prestigious engineering college find a clue to finally find their lost friend from college. Rannchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad aka Rancho (Aamir) their ex-room mate in the college hostel had silently disappeared on the graduation day leaving behind no clue of where he had left for. Rancho was the life of the college and with his unique wit had back then even managed to rattle the strict head of the college, Viru Sahastrabuddhe (Boman) but at the same time managed to win the heart of his daughter Pia (Kareena). Before leaving, Rancho had brought a major change in almost every person’s life he had come closer to. Starting their journey from Delhi and going to Shimla, Manali and finally ending up in Ladakh, what surprise is in store for Farhan and Raju when they finally manage to meet Rancho forms the climax of the film.
After two back to back landmark films of Hindi cinema Munnabhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munnabhai, expectations from Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 idiots had been very high. Added to that, was the combination of producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Hirani and Aamir Khan coming together for the first time. So if you wondering whether the film manages to live up to the expectations then yes it does. Aal is well in here! Along with his co-scriptwriter Abhijat Joshi, Hirani packs in many subtle messages through his narrative and successfully drives home the point that when it comes to planning for one’s future, one must follow his heart and do what our hearts tell us rather than what our parents expect us to do. There are plenty of sequences that stay in your heart long after the film is over. Be it the unexpected suicide of a pressurized student, Aamir’s entry scene, the dinner situation at Sharman’s house, Sharman’s job interview, Madhavan convincing his parents to allow him to chose his choice of work and of course the laughathon caused by interchanging of words Chamatkar to Balaatkar by Aamir of an unsuspecting student. However, the child delivery sequence in the pre climax has been unnecessarily over stretched.
The film is a must watch for every Aamir fan. Just check the way he successfully carries out the role of a 22 year old despite being 44 years older. There is a scene when Boman drags him out of his cabin and the body language which Aamir displays then, deserves applause. Giving him adequate support are Madhavan and Sharman. Madhavan gets the double duty of giving the voice over for the film as well and he does it wonderfully well. Sharman delivers his career best performance and it would be a pity if he misses out on the Best Supporting Award for 2009. Debutante Omi playing the irritatingly snobbish nerdy Chatur Ramalingam is excellent and brings the house down on many occasions. Boman speaking with a lisp in the film doesn’t make his character turn into a caricature and yet again leaves a mark. Jassi girl Mona Singh playing Kareena’s sister is good and so is Javed Jaffrey in his brief part.
Shantanu Moitra’s music is already ruling the charts and each and every song has been picturised innovatively with Zoobie Doobie being the best visual delight.
Although 3 idiots is close to three hours long, these hours will definitely be worth spent as you shall come out with many a memorable moments and an amazing inspiration that the film gives.
amir is not a good actor or loved actor at all but he is releasing his films in christmas to get a hit out of a flop film.what ever his undeserved hits are yet still he is a junior artist to srk and amitabh.we wanna see how long u are going to play christmas trick as no new films to compete his fluke comedy like akki.srk is the everlasting lagend of bollywood.
amir is not only a good actor but he is fantastic and excellent in his work can’t compare with other, he is like a deepak in the dark of bollywood and everlasting legend

Over hyped and average movie. Only extensive marketing is saving this movie from a flop. And like someone mentioned lack of competition…

Everyone is special in some way! Anybody can be the King of Bollywood till the next time there is a record Box Office collection! Let’s look at the movie, it’s charm and it’s characters and not allow our personal feelings about some actor or the other colour our views! 3 Idiots was great fun! All college and school students, past or present, will relate to it.It could be a life-changing experience!

Super doper hit hit hit movie. it has a good inspiration for the student those who are burdened under there wants to what to do in future. aamir khan is the best of best. although he have not signed many film but those film he has done he has gave his excellence.

“Idiots” made 100 crores in 4 days!!! or “IDIOTS” is being made out of 100 crore Indians……. where is the math and who is doing the math???? Do the math yourselves…This means in one day movie is making Rs 25 crores……. HOW MANY TICKETS NEED TO BE SOLD IN ONE DAY TO MAKE Rs25 Crores?????….. how many halls are there in India for Hindi cinema???/and what is their sitting capacity… Even if the movie is being screened round the clock still selling tickets worth 25 crores doesn’t add upto!!!!!! ……Movie is average… But everyone should learn and appreciate on great marketing talent from Aamir Khan and that is who to create “hype” for your product…….to enhance its sales…

3 idiots is a super-duper movie. amir khan really best star in the bolywood. even better than srk. the people who r saying movie was avarage they r really jealous of success of amir khan. some people have d tendency to say only negetive things.

@ Indy, fine, let’s do that math.
Avg. price of a ticket Rs. 100 (conservative)
So that means, 25 lakh tickets need to be sold per day
Say avg. number of seats per screen = 300 but effective utilisation is only 250 (again conservative since shows are running houseful)
So that means, 10,000 shows per day across India
Assume average number of shows per cinema per day = 5 (conservative)

By the way here are the official Net Gross figures released by the Vinod Chopra Productions for the above mentioned period Rs 38,00,00,000 . And Net Gross of Rs 69,75,00,000 till last week end…….. I guess Vinod and Aamir both are looking for you because it seems you are the only individual who seenms know where abouts of that extra 60 crores that according to you and your math was grossed in the first 4 days !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well all these outstanding reviews did make me go and watch the movie but I was kind of disappointed I guess the over-hype killed it. In the end it turned out to be a ok movie. I think Munna Bhais were a lot better if compared to 3 Idiots.
