Movie Review: Do Knot Disturb; Star cast: Govinda, Sushmita Sen, Ritesh Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Sohail Khan, Ranvir Shorey, Rituparna Sengupta, Rajpal Yadav and Manoj Pahwa; Director: David Dhawan; Rating: * – Assault on your senses.
Govinda plays a rich husband married to Sushmita who owns the Saxena Group of industries. On the sly he has been having an affair with Dolly (Lara) an item queen who has dumped her ex (Sohail Khan) for greener pastures. Govinda’s kicked out butler Nandu (Rajpal) in an attempt to get back at him clicks a photo of him with Dolly and sends it to his wife. When she confronts Govinda over it he manages to escape out of the tricky situation by claiming a passerby who appears unintentionally closer to Dolly in the picture as her boyfriend. Knowing well that she won’t stop at this and try to find out the truth behind it, he starts hunting for the passerby who turns out to be a waiter, Goverdhan (Ritesh). Govinda lures him into playing Dolly’s boyfriend for sometime till his wife gets convinced about it. But at the same time, she proves smarter by hiring a private detective friend Nunnu (Shorey) to catch them red handed. Add to that Dolly’s hot headed ex desperately wanting to thrash her new boyfriend and win her bback What follows next is total chaos!
You know when you enter a film like Do Knot Disturb, logic should be the last thing on your mind considering the names it comprises of but then what you encounter is a huge let down. A two timing hubby is no more a novelty on screen and Govinda and David Dhawan have churned out many films revolving around this theme earlier. But this time around they fail together. In the name of comedy in here you have actors yelling at the top of their voices or breaking into female tones for no rhyme or reasons, outdated situational jokes about a dead body going around a hotel, slapping spree meant to derive laughs, faulty characterizations. The film is supposedly completely set in Delhi and the characters too keep saying this but it appears not a single frame seems to have been shot in the capital city. Dubai-Abu Dhabi has been passed off as Delhi. In fact Ritesh’s hotel is shown at a sea side with yachts parked. The makers seem well prepared to take their audience on a ride it seems.
Nadeem Shravan’s music is dated like the film’s jokes barring the Bebo number. Sets are gaudy and camerawork functional.
Govinda can create a laugh riot amongst the masses if he decides to but here barring a few comic sequences he is mostly resorted to yelling his lines in the name of humour. Ritesh on the other hand is much subdued and likeable as the greedy waiter. Lara Dutta looks WOW and acts ably and displays good flair for comedy. Sushmita Sen is hardly there in the first half and practically ignored in the second right till the climatic moments. (No wonder there were rumours about Sushmita being pissed about this fact) Ranvir Shorey is funny but why such a horrendous wig for him that threatens to fall any moment. Sohail Khan’s character could have been developed further as he is genuinely funny in his angry moments. Rajpal Yadav and Manoj Pahwa manage a few laughs. But one wonders why makers feel Rajpal Yadav needs to be whacked around in all his roles to get laughs! Rituparna hardly gets any scope.
Do Knot Disturb is a comeback of the No.1 series trio of producer Vashu Bhagnani, director David Dhawan and Govinda but alas it is no where close to any of their earlier ventures!
I feel so sorry for critc who has rated this movie. Do Knot disturb is fantastic movie. It’s full loads of comedy. How sad that my dear critic is looking for moral lession in a comedy film. A comedy film is there to make audience laugh by any means no matters what is plot or script. if audience can laugh the movie is successful. and do knot disturb well deserves to be appreciated for this as it is able to entertain you well with its well written dialgues and witty jokes. if some one can’t laugh he is either mentally seek or he does not understand the language of film. Do knot disturb is a outstandin movie and it deserves to be given at least 3/5 stars. my dear critic i request you to go to watch this movie again and try to watch movie with open minds without being critic and i am sure you will enjoy this if not…opppp some probelm there……you have given 1 star for this movie . plz you must think twice trice before giving any ultimate jugement…had it been a movie starring Shah Rukh Khan , Salman Khan, or Amir Khan etc..You would have showered praises on them and would have given 5/5 but it is very sad that you give your comments without proper analyzing it..

I have watched this movie in PVR saket with my family, and we enjoyed this movie. In fact we can’t help laughing and audiences were falling from their chairs while laughing. If you don’t watch this movie, don’t say again why i did’nt watch this movie because this is outstanding comedy film. but sure you don’t need to take your brains in theatre for seeking faults in it. Go and be yourself a judge. if you read such silly review as given above or reviews given by some stupid reviewrs , then you will regret , Go and laugh !
Roshni aur mr critic ji jakar kisi acche doctor ko dikyaiye. mujhe lagata hai aapke brain me kuch khuch hota hai ….isliye toh itni acchi movie ko app log thik se judge nahi kar paaye. Do knot disturb bahut bahut bahut acchi aur comedy movie hai .
well… i am very sad to read such reviews and ratings. The film which should be praised for making audience laughing is so badly criticized ! Justice has not been done to movie. Bollywood has produced so many non sense movies but reviewrs did not go after them and here is a quite entertaining movie and they are going in search of high moral lessons . yes you can say that movie is not very logic which is the case almost for all bollywood as well as some hollywood movies,but ask yourself why do we go to cinma ..looking for what…and your answer should be entertainment… so Do knot disturb is in this case super entertainer. Do Knot disturb is a guarantee to leave you bursing in laugh. Good movie
a good entertainer. most of the senes are hilarious but there is scene where you won’t stop laughing for almost 10 minuts

I had gone to watch it with my friend, i did not like the movie at all but my friend find that it was fantastic. It means that every person has his own point of view. In my point of view, the movie is the the worst movie i had seen in theatre.
i think you had already read the review that ’s why you didnt like and review was always in your mind …better be yourself a judge…you said your friends find it fantastic…it means they must have not read review before watching it or they just ignored it… better go once again with fresh mind ..you will like it. I have also watched it today.. with my friends and we came out from theater laughing …Movie is the best comedy ever.. a must watch
govinda, rajpal, ritish rock in this movie… you don’t want to miss 150 minuts of entertainment and enjoyment then go for this movie confidently..

sachin you better keep silent don’t ever to speak rubbish thing about such a great actor…he is not liked by a great mass . and his acting skills has been appreciated by great actors and directors and this is not a co incident that a great director like Mani Ratnam proffered to sign him in his upcoming Raavan. He has done more than 130 movies and prooved his talent . whether films have been commercially successful or not, he has well justified to his role. and moreover he is great dancer. No body can dance like him in bollywood. He has been praised by famous choreographer like Saroj Khan and Ganesh Acharya. He is undoubtedly the best dancer in bollywood industry..fantastic steps with fabulous gestures and facial expressions.. ….

Stupid dialogues and hefty over-acting by all the flop actors will irritate you to the core if you have even a bit of understanding about the humor.
I won’t comment on whether one should watch the movie or not; I would rather want people to go and give it a try…as I did…after-all why should only I suffer.
