BLUE Movie Review
Movie Review: BLUE; Star cast: Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Zayed Khan, Rahul Dev and Katrina Kaif (Sp. App); Director: Anthony D’Souza; Rating: *1/2 – A BIG dissappointment.
Sagar (Dutt) and Aarav (Akshay) are good friends settled in the Bahamas. While Sam is a happy go lucky rich businessman, Sagar is down to earth and not as ambitious as him. Aarav on many occasions tries to instigate Sagar on coming out with the secret of ‘The Lady In Blue’ a ship carrying a huge gold treasure that was sunk in 1949 in the Bahamas seas. Aarav believes Sagar knows the route to the deep sunken ship and they both can benefit from the huge treasure that lies inside it. Sagar however doesn’t like to discuss about the ship nor has any interest for the treasure hunt. Just then Sagar’s younger brother Sam (Zayed) arrives from Bangkok after five years. Mafia boss Gulshan (Rahul) is hot on his trail for an assignment worth 50 million dollars gone wrong. With Gulshan too arriving in Bahamas and kidnapping his girlfriend Mona (Lara), Sagar has only 24 hours left for paying back the huge money which Sam has messed with. He is now left with no option but face his old demons and plunge into the deep sea with Aarav and Sam for the treasure hunt.
A really interesting premise shot beautifully but messed big time by unimaginative writing and lackluster direction is what Blue shall always be remembered as. The setting is different no doubt, but where are the requisite twists and turns and pace which are a must for this genre of films? The so called major twist that comes out in the end can be guessed quiet earlier in the first half itself. Also, almost the entire first half moves around with zero grip on the audience with more than enough time wasted on character establishment. The much hyped shark sequences are a big let down what with barring the opening sequence of few minutes (where believe it or not Akshay and Dutt literally ride a shark) there is not a single scene where the sharks are a threat and get you on the edge of your seat. The bike chase sequences have been shot very well though. The underwater sequences have been superbly lit up and one needs to salute the team of cameramen involved for it. The climax is extremely ‘thanda’ and derives unintentional laughter as well. Songs don’t really fit in well and the Kylie Minogue starring Chiggy Wiggy number doesn’t really work on screen. However, the background music and sound editing is excellent.
Akshay is in his element in here playing the flirty cool dude with a hidden agenda with amazing natural ease. Dutt approaches his part with zero enthusiasm and worse, his paunch is visible in many sequences. But Zayed is good and Rahul Dev impresses too. Lara Dutta is super hot and does ample skin show. Katrina Kaif in a special appearance doesn’t work at all.
Said to be over Rs. 100 crore in budget, Blue doesn’t justify the mega budget it has been allotted and first timer director Anthony D’Souza gets it all wrong mistaking style and extra coolness quotient for substance.
If you want to experience some good underwater photography on a big screen and a few well shot action sequences, then you can go for it but if you are expecting something more then let us warn you that you will be in for a BIG disappointment!

Huge Disappointment, with a capital H!! Of course we knew there were some awesome stunts and great action sequences, but where’s the STORY?!! Good visuals – natural as well as skin, mediocre acting by most actors, and some “dialogues” which make you wonder if you should laugh or cry, sum up the whole film…Not what we expected at all, it was a major disappointment…

I really liked the movie a lot. The movie is well made. Everything looks well planned. The star cast is amazing and each and every person has done justice to their roles. Akshay Kumar is looking amazingly stunning.. and since he was playing a negative role in the movie, he has reached the next level as an actor.
The movie is awesome…the stunts and the actions are so well shot..i got a chance to see these kind of daredevil stunts after such a long time…indian cinema has reached new heights with this movie. The idea of using Water as a theme is so good and the entire movie looks amazing.
The movie has an amazing visual appeal. The blue coloured water looks awesome throughout the movie. All the actors are looking so good. And they all have done a fabulous job. Lara Dutta looks HOT in the movie. And Akshay Kumar has proven it yet again that there is no stopping him from being the daredevil of our film industry.

BLUE is definitely the super hit movie of this season, according to me. The director was sure of what he wants and everything is so well done. The underwater shots were so well taken and I cant believe that they actually had the guts to shoot with real sharks. And not just 1 or 2..but more than 20-30 sharks. Hats off to the cast and crew
I had heard that the stars had undergone vigorous training before they started shooting for the movie. And after seeing the movie, I am sure what I had heard was right. Akshay Kumar has done a terrific job. The amount of commitment he has towards his work, is seen in the movie, and he is definitely bagging some awards this year for his –ve role in the movie
If someone asks me which is the most amazing movie I have seen this year, without even an ounce of doubt in my mind, I will say BLUE. The 1st half of the movie kept me amazed. The stunts were mind blowing! The cast of the film was well chosen and everyone suited their characters perfectly.

BLUE is the most exhilirating movie I have seen in my life. Its good to know that our directors are making movies that could be made only in Hollywood once upon a time. Anthony d’souza has changed the definition of Hindi cinema. Kudos to the director!
I just watched the movie a few hours back and it’s a phenomenal movie. There wasn’t even a single dull moment in the entire movie. The movie is neither too long nor too short. Its just perfect. The underwater stunts are so amazing that I don’t remember taking my eyes off the screen even for a single moment
I had a lot of expectations from the movie, and after watching it I can say this for sure that it was more than what I expected. The star cast has done such a wonderful job and akshay kumar steals the show completely. He has completely put in his 100% and that just shows in the movie. Being surrounded by real sharks without any protective gear, is not an easy task.
BLUE has broken all the records. The story, the look of the movie, the cast, the production value everything is just so perfect and well planned. I have heard there were special cinematographers called in from Hollywood to take the underwater shots, and they have done a brilliant work. Cheers
I was a big fan of Akshay Kumar before watching BLUE. And today after watching it, I think I am his biggest fan! He has blown my mind off with the way he has portrayed his character in the movie. The commitment and dedication can be clearly seen in the movie. Hats off to you akshay kumar, you are my idol. All the best

Blue is full of underwater actions, stunts, sharks, 3 hot male actors, Hot Lara Dutta, water, treasure hunt etc. it is a very different kind of a movie. A kind of movie which is never made in the history of hindi cinema and I am sure this attempt is worth a watch!
I completely loved the songs of the movie. Each and every song of the movie is so well made. The music, the lyrics, the beats, and the video everything is awesome!
When the director knows what exactly he wants in the movie the output of the movie is ought to be good. After seeing the movie, it is quite clear that the director Anthony D’souza was very clear about the concept and hence the output was fantabulous. I loved the movie and I have asked all my friends to go watch it once atleast!

Zayed Khan is looking so different, good and mature in the movie. Lara dutta is sizzling like always and AK is definitely the king! AK is one actor who is so dedicated towards his work and has absolutely played his character well. He suits well in a –ve role.
Akshay Kumar said in one of the articles that BLUE is the most dangerous film he has ever done. I thought it was just a promotional statement, but after seeing the movie I am dead sure it is indeed the most dangerous movie he has been a part of. The underwater action is exhilarating! Keeps you glued to the screen throughout the 2 hours

after seeing the various trailers and stills I was sure the movie was going to do well. But after seeing the movie on the 1st day itself, I was ecstatic! It is such a nice movie and it adds to the excitement of the festive season.

Blue..as the name suggests has a water centric theme…its about 3 men going out to find a treasure that hidden somewhere in the deep ocean. And the stunts are done with special underwater cameras, real sharks and stuff..it’s an amazing movie

It is an outstanding movie, especially when it is the director’s first shot! He has planned the movie so well and even the producers have shown 100% support. When there is a unity in the crew, it reflects on the final product. And the movie blue just proves the point.
I am a film student and I was totally dumbstruck at all the different kind of techniques used to make one film. I was unaware that there was so much you can do in one film. The shots that were taken underwater were my personal favourites. I am sure they used different cameras and a whole lot of other things to make it look so good!

the plot of the movie was damn good. There wasn’t a single loop hole which I can think about. Plus every shot looked so well planned. Shooting with real sharks, being in water for such a long time, etc really needs a lot of training and exercise and courage. I am sure the actors have worked very hard

The BLUE movie is good beacause of cast and director….but the back bone of the movie is AR.RAHMAN…..he has given superb background score…….but yes its a Team work every one has done good job, nice movie to watch…go and watch…
frankly, never ever I have seen all the people around you booing the movie in unison…… it should be BOOOOOOO or BOOOHOOO and not BLUE. Anthony had some huts to tame DHILIN MEHTA to put in such money on total PAKAUUU movie. I don’t understand…. with what in their minds they went about making the movie. To start with… there was no script (what bull **** of an idea.. treasure… indian navy … bahamas and all that ****)….atleast the storyline could have been bit authentic… I am sure if Anthony wanted to show sea and bikes… he could have chosen simple yet effective story telling. Lara, Kats… all wasted. And seriously Zayed should not act. And again…. Akshay should use his head in choosing films… what a waste of money in DIWALI. BOOHOO and DIWALA.
