Movie Review: Tere Sang; Star Cast: Ruslaan Mumtaz, introducing Sheena Shahabadi, Rajat Kapoor, Satish Kaushik, Neena Gupta and Anupam Kher; Director: Satish Kaushik; Rating: ** – Has its heart in its place…but.
While the poster designs of the film with a teenage girl shown pregnant suggests it to be a blatant copy of Oscar winning film Juno, the fact is Teree Sang is not. It is also not really similar to Preity Zinta’s Kya Kehna though it too dealt with a very young unmarried girl getting pregnant. But despite having its heart in the right place, Teree Sang doesn’t really register any impact on the viewer.
Maahi (Sheena) is the only child of rich parents (Rajat Kapoor and Neena Gupta). She strikes friendship with Kabir aka Kukko (Ruslaan) whose parents (Kaushik and Sushmita Mukherjee) belong to the lower strata of the society. Their friendship turns into love and during a camping on the New Year’s Eve, in a drunken state they end up having sex. Maahi gets pregnant and all hell breaks loose While Maahi wants to keep the baby, her father opposes it. She then elopes with Kabir so that she can deliver her child. What further complications it all leads to forms the rest of the film.
Kaushik’s direction falls in the category of ‘strictly okay’ but as an actor he has his impressive moments playing a rickshaw driver. Screenplay by Jainendra Jain, Sanjay Chauhan and Anuj Kapoor is plain insipid at times. One wonders why the girl (Sheena) whom you should feel the maximum sympathy for falling in such a mess has been given an extremely irritating childish tone to speak her lines. It starts grating on your nerves after a point of time. The music too hardly has any recall value.
Ruslaan Mumtaz has tremendous screen presence and given a good script and a good director can work wonders. Sheena makes a confident debut but her dialogue delivery needs to improve. Rajat Kapoor is good and so is Sushmita Mukherjee. Anupam Kher in a short role is impressive as usual. Neena Gupta is okay.
Teree Sang is not really a bad film but just that it is not good enough worth an immediate rush to your nearest multiplex.
the promos made it look pretty promising.but sorry to say it ended up to be a damp squid.the girl is ‘cute’, but ya her tone is actually ‘childish’ and at times ‘mawkish’.it could have been much better.story was fine,only that the way it was handled was not appreciable.
“Tere sang” movie s good…nt soo good.. Story gets pickd up very lightly on the screen..this make audience to get bored..to be frank movie s jst like the continued part of kannada movie “cheluvina chittaara”….. Movie s jst ok for 3 hrs entertainment..

Tere sang is really nice movie.. i saw rusalang after m.p.3… he is very cute n shina also.. i like both in the movie.. i love ruslang.. n movie is awsome.. if i have boyfrend in future than he will be like ruslang.. i mean kuku… love u sweet heart… all the best 4 great future..

Just watched the movie in South Africa and I must say it was quite refreshing. Old fashioned story-telling, bit unreal in places but overall a good watch. It still amazes me how differently South African Indians and those in the motherland have different tastes when comparing what is good or not. I can never understand how some movies make it big with no content.

this movie is a remake of a chinese movie. ‘2 young’ in 2005. The director is a copycat!!!!!!!!!!!!! the movie is exactly the same…….!!!!!!!!!
