Utaran on Colors
Shot in actual slums, Uttaran is an extraordinary saga of a girl named ‘Ichcha’ played by Sparsh, who is born in the slums of Mumbai and desires much more than what her destiny has in store for her. Ichcha has big dreams and aspirations, to fulfil these and to provide her with a better livelihood her mother takes up a job of housemaid at a rich household.
Soon Ichcha gets attached to the house and befriends Tapasya played by Ishita, who is the daughter and the only child of the house where her mother works as the maid.
Tapasya takes an instant liking to Ichcha and they become good friends, however soon, she becomes mindful of her stature and reputation, she abandons her friendship with Ichcha much to Ichcha’s surprise. Tapasya starts treating Ichcha like a servant, because she is a daughter of a maid. Reality then dawns upon Ichcha which makes her question her fate and she discovers that her fate is of a servant, no matter what she does, she can never break away from it.
Ichcha comes to terms with this reality and accepts her fate. Although, destiny again has something else in store for Ichcha…. What does destiny have in store for Ichcha? Will she be deprived of the happiness that she deserves just because she is a daughter of a servant? Will her dreams ever be fulfilled? Is love and happiness to much to ask by the poor? Will Ichcha again accept her fate and live like a servant for the rest of her life?

I think UTHARAN is a welcome change after all the saas bahu serials.How did you guys find the girl? she really looks like a slum kid and she is kinda cute! unlike the over made up chachi.Why did the mother have to steal from the kitchen??
Uttaran is a real life story that tells the story of Ichcha, unprivilaged girl. Ichcha played by Sparsh is excellent. The serial shows the emotions which the under privilaged children think seeing other children of rich people which they also want to have from their fate. It also remembers us that we should treat specially children equally to the best of our efforts without seeing their background & shows that the items which we throw out of our house, becomes something new for these children to play with them.
Wish all the best & good luck to Sparsh & hope we all should do something good to bring happiness to these under privilaged children by providing them new toys, new cloths etc which their parents can’t afford. And, most important, we should all try to adopt child to give them new family & love & in return, we will get lots & lots of love from these innocent childrens.

It is a good premise. You, the producers can have a very positive impact if you do it right. As it is UTARAN is hogwash. Icchha wants what is not hers nor has she earned it by work, study or family. Just by wishing and being melodramatic about a lack must not be rewarded. and your premise that Ishita’s bethroted would fall for Ichha in future means that you will show that by her “***” she will gain a haveli or its owner? You are then no better than a B movie maker.
I believe you (the COLORS TV viacom) are better than that because you are also producing Jai Shri Krishna which has made me think of Krishna as lovable. And maker of Balika Badhu, which is showing how bullies in a family can make everybody,s life miserable, including the young wife, you are on a correct track there unless u become melodramatic. So far you are fine. You have some very good writers and advisors for social issues.
So please do not stumble with utaran. IT could simply be a comedy with iccha making mistakes with her wishful thinking, or become an important serial, along with comedy please show that she is studying to improve her social status and then she does achieve high college degrees, a good job, and very very good husband and lifestyle.
Please donot slip up now. stay the good course.
You, Viacom, could find a mentor for Ichha who inspires her to study, and not just wish for things that are not hers, jost because somebody is poor does not give them the right to wish for and then take what the rich kid has. That is what Iccha is doing in the last episode in the rich kid’s bedroom.
This sets up wrong examples for all those people who are unfortunate to **** in Bustees. But I have seen many come right out of lower classes to become solid middle class by studying and getting good jobs. And I have also seen many remain where they are because all they wanted to do is badmouth the people that had money etc and do anything to improve themselves and study and work hard and smart.
You have a chance to really make a difference.
I truly hope that somebody from viacom team will read this and think about this.

What ever you people are saying that Iccha should study, get a college degree, good job & then she can think of having all those things which the rich person always have in their posscession.
But here, the emotion of a child of mere 7 yrs old is showing how a child think, what is the mental condition of a child who does want to play with toys, have new clothes, want to go to school etc by seeing other children.
What all you people are talking about maturued people, you can’t expect a child to think grown up people. Even grown up people also acts sometime very stupid.
So, pls try to understand the feeling of Iccha & don’t try to compare with grown up people
Utaran is far from reality. I mean who would not wish to get something that isn’t his or hers? But according to Utaran, it seems to be the sole purpose of a little child. The girl Iccha is shown to be too much demanding and disturbed. Her life seems to be nothing but a constant day dreaming episode. Her running behind mother should learn to bring up a child in proper ways rather than feeding her on lies. She keeps on telling lies to her. Why has she being forced to hide her true identity from her own daughter? This is utterly foolish. The show is misleading and somehow is spreading a message that being poor is a crime. They keep on crying poor fate! Poor Fate! Producers should include some positive messages into the show and make it more realistic.

UTARAN is what one gets when one tries to exceed his means. If utaran means second hand, then most of riches in India use second hand planes and there is a big lower middle class which uses second hand car.

Supposing …
Iccha’s young maalkin friend leaves for studying in a boarding house /abroad and iccha’s mother expires. The ‘old Maalkins’ conspires to spoil the future of iccha to serve their own futures as in changing times it is hard to get a reliable servant. A far-away young cousin lands and almost encouraged to molest iccha. The young pregnant iccha has nowhere else to go but remain in the service of the household. The story reaches a point where her child -hood maalkin friend, now married and settled abroad comes to know and sincerely wishes to pay for the sins of her elders and arranges for educating and grooming iccha’s daughter. Finally iccha’s child wins a contest/ becomes an airhostess and arrives to take on the challenges of the world successfully. Iccha is old and smiling.
Whilst on this, shall be glad to write dialogues for any sitation.
It is sometimes over exaggeration of helplessness.
I would rate such a show 7/10

Uttaran is the best serial as of now showing on colours . It can be watched by the entire family . The best character played is by AMMO . Truely so real . Even Iccha , Tapasya are very nice . Even I feel that the drama is not making any sense now, When Tappasya is a daughter of Thakur, and she is so rich, so it’s kinda funny when she says that she will not let Iccha become a Thakurain, She has seen so much wealth, but she is so jealous when Iccha is going to get wealth and all. She seems like that she is seeing expensive jeweleries, saris and all for the first time in her life which doesnt make sense. She is from a Thakur family and the unbleivable part is when it is already late for the muhurath, I didn’t understand why Thakurain didnt go to see what is happening up and what is taking them so much time to come down, it’s so fake, it doesn’t make any real.

Its high time that tappu darling’s (bag of lies)be brought into lamp light in making her in-laws aware of her doings, on the other hand the same should be done with her wonderful nani. Tappu is nothing but a vindictive, jelous,selfish and disgusting person.
Iccha on the other hand is totaly different, polite, sensible, careing and a true friend, she deserves a chance in life.
Even though veer is married to a frustrated tappu, he should divorce her and marry iccha, and tappu’s parents should not feel bad about or sorry for they know exactly that its non other then their daughter’s fault.

The starting of the serial was really good but after so many turns and twists the serial has gone onto a totally different track. No doubt Tapasya is psychic. Uska character bore hai. Director ko ab tapsya ki kertoot sabke saamne laani chahiye. Ichha is beautiful, her role should be lengthy, she should be paired against Vansh. And Vansh aur ichha ki story aage badani chahiye kuch naya masala daal ke. Veer bhi bore ker raha hai, us se jada powerful character Vansh ka hai.
Serial bahut jada kheecha ja raha hai agar aise hi raha to viewers ka interest loose ho jayega.
So Mr.Director!!!! u shud b careful.

To portray a strong, just, benevolent female character why the writers (or whoever) have to invent this female Devdas with a hose attached to her eyes and all sadness of earth on her face? Ichchha is the most spineless character (and selfish too since in her decision making she never bothered to consider Veer’s feeling and opinion). Her spinelessness is only followed by Gulmantidevi and most other females and males in the story. Veer’s was the most reasonable and rationale characters who could see through Tapasya. He was a breath of fresh air. Recently his character is also heading for the slippery slope of displaced brotherly obsession (being portrayed as love). The only good acting and believable character remaining therefore is that of Tapasya — what an irony!

In real world, if you really want to show strong women who cares for others and know how to respect — Ichchha should report Vanksh to police and seek a restraining order. That is the right thing to do. You can help women survive, take care of themselves and others by portraying strong characters who does the right thing. Vanksh is unbalanced, his character needs not only rehab but life long counseling and THAT “paraivaar” cannot provide. It needs professionals. Please make Ichchha doe the right thing. Let her get a restraining order (formally through police or through family for Vaksh). Let her get on with her life. She seems to be doing nothing except messing up Veer’s life, her own, and making a mess of things in the name of compassion. Compassion is when one does the right thing even when it is difficult.

First Vanksh forces everybody to get engaged to Ichchha, then he displays creepy behavior beating up people, walking on fire, now he is threatening Ichcha with their ancestral stories of beheading etc. SICK SERIAL — in real life women should run miles from such guys (but then the girl has to have some character. Ichchha has none).
