Destiny plays a cruel joke on an extremely enthusiastic young girl Taani (Anushka) as she loses her fiancé and his family in a road accident on the eve of her marriage. Her father, a retired professor, on his death bed requests her to marry his old favorite student, Surinder Shahani (SRK). Taani obeys his last wish and thus begins the start of this extraordinary love story between an otherwise ordinary jodi.
The shy, somewhat geeky Surinder has already fallen for Taani since the first time he has seen her but alls his hopes crash when Taani tells him the day they arrive at his house that she won’t be able to give him any love as that’s one feeling she has lost forever with the sudden turn of events in her life. The rest of the film is about how Suri transforms himself into a very hep flirtatious dude Raj to win her love using a dancing school as a platform for his antics. He is well aided with his childhood buddy Bobby (Pathak) who brings on the physical transformation in him. But what happens is Taani who is unaware of Raj being Suri himself ends up falling in love with Raj. Suri is now again in a fix but then he finally decides to take a bold step
Rab Ne has been definitely amongst the most awaited films of 2008 and there have been great expectations riding on it especially because it is Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge maker Aditya Chopra’s comeback film after a long gap of 8 years. The script has its moments and master craftsman Adi keeps you engaged initially with some really beautifully handled moments between SRK and Anushka. But as SRK’s character’s transformation comes in the grip slowly loosens and you start feeling restless with the pace slumping down considerably. What follows is a criss-cross between some really well penned and executed scenes and some really drab moments with badly placed songs acting as speed breakers. But Adi’s terrific dialogues deserve a special applause for touching the right chords.
Shah Rukh Khan is simply superb as first the shy Suri and then the flamboyant, full of energy, Raj. Newcomer Anushka gets a really well etched character to perform and it despite being her first film, she comes across an absolute natural. Vinay Pathak is fun and provides good comic relief.
Music of the film is good but the problem is apart from a very well tuned and picturised Haule Haule number, the rest songs appear wrongly placed. The picturisation of the number featuring Kajol, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta and Rani is mind blowing but again it coming at a wrong juncture doesn’t really make it work.
All in all, the film has the capacity to do very well in the North and the overseas but elsewhere the film won’t be anywhere near Adi’s earlier two works in terms of business. -(SAMPURN)

This movie SUCKED big time. Despite the numerous praise fest and sky rise expectations this movie was a damp squid. The movie seemed a bit jaded and SRK is better suited in mature roles now than these. Anushka, in my opinion needs to be encouraged more to actually emote. Barring one song, the rest seemed out of order. The movie in my opinion will do really well because of the positive word of mouth spreac and because it is released at so many screens.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi: Clean Entertainer. The team has given a very good Entertainer. First I request the audience who wish to see the movie, don’t expect this to be a DDLJ or Mohobatien.
I would also like to tell you, I don’t remember in recent years that I laughed some much while watching a movie. This is so funny and comic timing of King Khan is excellent and well executed. King Khan is superb again. If I got a chance to meet him, sure I will ask him, “HAVE YOU EVER FELT DIFFICULT TO GIVE ANY OF YOUR SCENES IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA”. He is the King Khan.
Story:
One Liner: Hero married to a girl, who goes to attend her marriage, the girl marries him unwillingly on the dead bed of her father. She tells him that she will be a good wife to him but can’t love him. Then, he transforms to a different person by looking and attitude to find what will make her happy, later he uses the transformation to make her understand how deep he loves her. The end is with a positive finish.
Full Story: Pls go watch, definitely will be interesting and fun loving.
Characterisation: I feel the characters are made perfect for this movie. I don’t understand one thing why the director shows husband character in a way that he will never change his character to be a love expresser.
My Views:
There might be mixed reports about the story, that no logic, it is not conventionally told. I see this movie as an entertainer, and it does full justice to it. Most of the review I see, how come she don’t recognise her husband even with the voice. I understand in the way that this is a movie and they never claim this is a conviction story. Even though it is not logical, I liked it because the character brings lot of life to the movie.
The movie is so funny and I would like to tell again, I have not been laughing some much in recent time while watching a movie. The timings are one after the other and got no room to stop the laugh, the timing are rapid in some part of the movie which really make us feel very happy. King khan timing is absolutely brilliant.
The dialogues made the movie going. Few dialogues are very very good, like he asking her what does really the girls want and the reply to it, absolutely brilliant.
Even though the story is predictable, the pre climax scenes are twisting the story.
I feel really bad, when I be her and feel, Oh! My husband knew that I was about to elope with a guy (Even though, now, she know they both are the same). I feel the question is unanswered by the team. Tough this is a movie, it is forgivable.
Performances:
King Khan: No words to King Khan’s Performances. He had done the complete justice to both the characters. Definitely without any doubt he is one of the best Actors in the world.
Anushka Sharma: Very confident debut. She is very expressive and very good looking too. Sure she will get some good offers. Nice acting.
I always admire his pair in every movie, even though the debuts like Gayathiri Joshi, Deepika and now Anushka. All the heroines, who opposite him always delivered their best.
Technicality:
Music is good, but I expected much more. The background score is not as catchy.
The Lyrics are good.
Choreography: Good for SRK.
Cinematography by our Ravi K Chadran is very catchy all the way in the movie.
I don’t get bored at any time or felt stretchy. The movie hold stuff for the length.
Finally: Pls don’t expect this to be the Aditya Chopra’s DDLJ or Mohobatien. Go look for King Khan Show and you will see every thing in it. I would like to say this is a nice package with Fun, Feelings, Emotions, ……

Very good movie, For a such touching moments as these in the film and for SRK’s stellar performance (one of best performance by SRK), ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ is definitely worth a watch.
At the risk of sounding nuts…occasionally a Hindi movie, beneath all the flash, will illustrate some conflict or emotion that is common to all human beings. This is one of those movies. It concerns the conflict we all feel between our public, everyday, repressed selves, and our inner, impassioned, expressive selves, and the difficulty of reconciling those two. What makes SRK’s performance in this movie so incredible is his passionate, literal embodiment of that conflict, and his struggle to unite these two aspects of himself. He completely gives himself over to this role and takes us with him. In my opinion this guy is one of the great actors in movies today, Hindi or otherwise.

RNBJ is the best movie i have ever seen and specially shahrukh khan’s acting was marvellous and superb. Anushka sharma’s acting was good and she is really beautiful and cute and of course she is better than sonam and sonal.
I’m not that impressed with this movie. quite disappointed with the screenplay in fact. srk’s acting was not that good.

as for aamir’s film, i’ve seen the original, and surya acting cant be imitated by aamir. the original is better. either way ghajini is an extremely violent and gory film. whether in hindi or tamil. bad story. i wouldn’t recommend anyone to watch such a sick movie!

It is funny why people go crazy slinging mud at each other when it comes to either of the two Khans.
I have seen almost all of their movies and have realized one thing that Aamir and Shahrukh never do the roles of the same kind. Their movie genres are totally different.
Aamir is an actor of the classes, his acting is cerebral… he is exceptionally good at it.
Shahrukh is an actor with mass appeal, he can involve the audience emotionally… and he is excellent and unmatched in what he does.
So where’s the comparison… If SRK played ‘Bhuvan’, Lagaan wouldn’t be as charismatic as it was, similarly if you make Aamir play any of the ‘Rahul’ or ‘Raj’ roles of SRK then it wouldn’t be convincing or as nice.
They both do their roles perfectly and they both cater extremely well to their niche audiences.
In fact, it is thanks to the two of them that we get the variety in Hindi movies we have now…
A beautiful romantic ‘DDLJ’,
a heartwarming ‘Taare Zameen Par’,
a stylish ‘Don’,
an uber cool ‘Dil Chahta Hain’
or even a back to the roots ‘Swades’
and thought provoking “Rang De Basanti’.
I am certainly glad that we have both Aamir and Shahrukh!
And as for all those people who crib that Hindi movies are copies that do not hold a candle to the original English movies.
It is high time you realize that we are culturally different from them… the color and melodrama in our movies do not make us inferior to them. We are just different.
Also, there are a lot of beautiful stories out there and every Indian may not enjoy or even understand the English / regional version… it is nice to have a Hindi version that caters to Indian / hindi tastes.

Overall the movie is fine and it might be the only film that has managed to keep the audience till the credits. But we went and paid to watch the movie and not the credits of the movie dude. The movies is truly SENSELESS. A girl who can’t figure out that her dance partner and husband are 1 singlr person would definitely seek RAB to make her jodi.

Let it be SRK or Aamir, it ultimately boils down to one thing: “are you getting your money worth of entertainment back?”.
If yes, then that movie is good.
My view is that, first we need to see the movie as a complete package rather than talking about individuals in the movie. Then we can talk about what percentage each individual has contributed to the success or failure of the movie.
I guess keeping aside SRK or Aamir or anyone else, looking at the overall movie, this movie is a good full length entertainer starting to finish with few good songs to go with it.
If you are looking for a movie to watch with your entire family (including kids, parents, grand parents), then Rab ne Bana Di Jodi (RNBDJ) will be a good choice.
I have watched Ghajini as well, although it is a good movie, I doubt if kids can come along with the family and be able to sustain the tension and violence in there. So, I guess that is a scoring point for RNBDJ.
If the overall team effort in any movie is excellent it shows in the end result, I guess that is what happened in case of both the movies.

3. Poor direction.
4. No melodies.
5. Poor action.
6. No/very less entertainment quotient.
Please help adding more parameters to the above list!
And then we can come up with a scale of “1-10″ (10 being highest) and can give points to each parameter and then see what is the output accordingly.
By this we can guage whether this movie is a hit, average or a flop. If you guys disagree, please let me know why.

I finally got the DVD to watch it @ home.I must say that it is an emotional and touching film,when you leave the theatre the film will have an impact on you. SRK has given life to his char Suri.By far its one of the better films of King Khan.( I myself am no SRK fan )Debutant Anushka’s presence is like a cool breeze of fresh air specially when paired with SRK(yeah this time we were saved by “his” heroines.(but unki bhi yaad aa gayi woh candy floss gaane mein!
The film has its moments be it with Vinay Pathak who plays a brilliant role(and i mean it to the core no wonder he may win a filmfare) in Bunty’s Char or with the the iconic lines “Hum hain Raahi pyar ke phir milenge chalte chalte!!All in all just like others i was little confused about Taani’s char(won’t go into details as i have no more issues since the story and the Script made it disappear slowly).Hmm so i won’t write the full review …I highly recommend this movie to anyone who believes in luv .So people dont always be too critical about things sit back and enjoy as the movie unfolds …You wont called this contrived until unless you are sitting with a pen and paper.Awesome movie miss it at your own cost. My rating: 8/10
