Dostana Review

Set in Miami, the film revolves around a male nurse, Sameer (Abhishek) and a hotshot photographer, Kunal (John Abraham). Both are on the look out for an apartment and coincidentally end up landing at the same house at the same time. But the landlady refuses to take two hot macho men into her home that also houses her young niece, Neha (Priyanka Chopra). To not let of the opportunity they pretend to be gay.
After Neha moves in, very soon the trio gets friendly and inseparable. According to Neha, she becomes one of the boys and the boys, as she says, are one of the girls! And just when you think this is one happy and gay friendship in comes the twist and turns. Both the guys realize that they have feelings for Neha and each of them wants her to himself. Both of them then try to outdo and outwit one another ending into a big fight. But ironically, Neha takes the fight as a lovers’ tiff! Now just when the two are about to reveal the truth, in walks Abhimanyu (Bobby) Neha’s new boss. He starts showing extra affection for her and she too starts reciprocating. This comes as threat for the two lover boys. They then hatch a plan to get rid of Abhimanyu by resorting to all sorts of pranks to get rid of from Neha’s life by hook or by crook. Their plans succeed to some extent but they end up losing her in this bargain. How they win her back forms the rest of the film.
Coming from Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, Tarun Mansukhani’s directorial debut is a good mixture of Karan Johar’s stamp of glossy class and a new age director’s hatke treatment. Technically the film definitely stands amongst one of 2008’s best. The screenplay is truly innovative coupled with some great one-liners. There is not a single dull moment throughout the film as it keeps you in splits always. The scenes involving Boman Irani (in a gay role) are a laugh riot. So also are the scenes between Abhi-John and Abhi’s mom played by Kirron Kher.
Vishal-Shekhar’s music is already topping the charts and the picturisation of songs take it one notch higher. The opening track shot on Shilpa Shetty at the beautiful sun kissed Miami bitches provides great eye candy.
Abhishek in first out and out comedy role is brilliant. His self deprecating humor style has turned out very good. John who has never looked so hot before also shows great comic timing. Priyanka apart looking extremely gorgeous throughout does a nice job. Bobby underplays his part well. Kirron Kher is now type cast as the loud Punjabi mom. She does the same old routine that she been doing in such roles. Boman is fun to watch. Sushmita Mukherjee as Priyanka’s aunt appears wasted.
All in all it’s a fun film not to be missed if you truly want to enjoy a love story with a ‘twist.’

Storyline also different. Climax little disappointing.
Its a copy of Chuck and larry ****. Really guys, if you have got enough nerves for an all out and out faggets thingy, you can enjoy the laughs inside but it is indeeed too too damn much over the top guy in guy thing especially the dream sequence of how those faggets meet is totally yuck!!! I mean how could a normal dude digest something hunky like AB doing all those deep fagget **** and i mean really deep and then you are expected to laugh your guts out at just enjoying the creamy top and non considering the director’s or KJo’s fantasy about portraying their real life sequences on screen, I wont be much rude but to say the least if you have that nerve of seein two dudes of Indian Cinema making out and acting in an out and out FAGGET movie, take your pick!

The movie aint any work of art ,but a breezy , racy comedy fr Indian audiences..if u ve been watchin some formulaic hollywood comedies, therez a fair possibility tht not much abt this movie will surprise u..AB jr & Boman irani are really good in the movie though

I had little expectations from this but the Movie is damn good. the performance and everything is superb. This is the first Karan Johar movie that I have liked so much. I didnt liked those boring and depressing nonsense movies of Johar before.
Well,very suprised it just collected 35 cr in two weeks and it just gets Below average verdict at the BOXoffice. It needed 50 Cr to become a worldwide hit-but the chance is gone. lets see.

Indian Sari and making it look like a ******? Attempts to make the
unnatural and illegal (in India) act of homosexuality acceptable?
Homosexuality is abhorred as wrong in all religions in the world.
The directors should be blamed for making such ridiculous movies.
The actors should be blamed for accepting roles in such movies.
And the public should be blamed for going to such movies just
for a cheap laugh, and letting moral standards drop among the
educated and middle class in India.
And was this a Punjabi movie? The song lyrics were mainly in
Punjabi. What happened to the rest of India, to Bengali
music, and other states of India? Is India only comprised
of Punjab? Do all movie-goers understand these Punjabi lyrics
in Indian movies?
Gone are the days of the great directors like V. Shantaram.
The current batch of movies are just plain trash with half-*****
gyrating foreign girls and shot outside India - even India is not
good enough for Indian movies anymore. The older movies used to
proudly say which part of India they were going to show.
Today’s producers and directors seem to be prouder of
foreign locations than they are of India.
And yesterday’s heroes were heroes in thought, talk and
action - they never had to show their bum cracks.
What a shame and what a pity for this state of
affairs of Indian cinema.
Come on,this is a great movie. Where in 2008 dude,so get used to it. Old time Hindi movies are in the past,is time for something new. So back the hell up!
