The Truth about ‘My Name is Khan’
SRK seems to be taking a leaf out of Aamir Khan’s book. After Aamir successfully wooed critics and audiences alike with ‘Taare Zameen Par’ which was about dyslexia, King Khan seems to trying to evoke pathos and sympathy among the audiences too.
The reports are that in good friend Karan Johar’s next film ‘My Name Is Khan’, Shahrukh Khan will play a character who suffers from an Autistic disorder.
Contrary to some apprehensions, the movie is not a biopic of SRK, but it’s a movie about Asperger’s Syndrome which is characterized by physical clumsiness and lack of proper communication skills in people who suffer from it.
Shibani Bhatija who has written films like ‘Fanaa’ and ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ has written the script. The buzz is that Shibani has done her homework well, conducted thorough research and interviewed many people suffering from the disease.
In fact both Karan Johar and Shibani have worked diligently and are trying to depict the condition of Asperger’s patients who are fighting hard to be a part of the society correctly. K Jo wants to convey a social message through his film and let it work as an eye opener.
Well, his intensions are noble. We sure hope he succeeds and doesn’t end up making a mockery of a grave issue! Unlike what he did with extra marital affairs in ‘Kabhie Alvida Naa Kehan’! -(SAMPURN)
Kabhi alvida naa kehna was NOT A MOCKERY OF A GRAVE ISSUE. It was a sensitive, layered and intelligent comment on a grave issue. YOU are a mockery as well as a grave issue.
Well said Sameer!!!KANK is one of the sensitive and good well made film I saw from India. SRK’s role in KANK is one of his best. I was amazed by his acting in it. Just perfect! You know what Stupid people whom hate him in the film! As simple they can’t see beyond the perfect man! They can’t bear to see real man in a film as the lead actor! I’m glad that SRK did the role and I’m more eager to see him in yet a difficult real character after Dev Saran.

KANK is one of the most intelligent hindi films presenting a very controversial topic for indian audiences with a lot of tenderness and sensitivity. karan johar is certainly the best film maker in india and he chose the very best actor for the main part. i am sure my name is khan will be a movie that will sweep the audiences all over the world. how can it not be? best director, best actor, best actress!
