Movie Review: Heroes; Movie Cast: Salman Khan, Preity Zinta, Sunny Deol, Mithun Chakraborty, Bobby Deol, Sohail Khan, Vatsal Seth, Dino Moreo, Riya Sen, Amrita Arora and Monish Behl; Director: Samir Karnik; Rating: ***1/2
Samir Karnik after two back to back flops (Kyon Ho Gaya Na and Nanhe Jaisalmer) makes a grand comeback with a Heroes, a good film that tugs your heart strings and makes you think.
It tells the story of two aimless youth Sammy (Sohail Khan) and Ali (Vatsal Sheth) who have to travel a thousand miles to deliver three letters as a part of their film school assignment. But little do they know that the journey they have embarked upon will end up giving a new meaning to their life. Unfolding in three chapters it tells peaks into the lives of Balkar Singh (Salman) and Kuljeet Kaur (Preity) in the first chapter, brothers Vikram (Sunny) and Dhananjay Shergill (Bobby) in the second chapter and that of Dr. Naqvi (Mithun) and his son Sahil (Dino) in the final chapter.
How Sammy and Ali’s encounters of heroes in real life changes their attitude towards their own life and our country forms rest of the film.
It is a very good subject that doesn’t involve any jingoism from our country’s army men characters to prove their love for the nation. Though the opening sequences (including a mindless song) appear a little irritating, the film takes a good turn once the chapters start unfolding back to back. The culmination is the high point of the film which makes us all feel proud for country and our army men and also makes us realize at the same time that you don’t have to be in the army to be a real hero. Every common person has it in him to be a Hero. The title of the film couldn’t have been more apt.
Scenes between Salman and Preity, Bobby and Sunny have turned out very well. You are in tears in most of the places. This film is a pleasant surprise if you go in without any expectations. The performances by every single actor take this film above average. Salman and Preity not only look like a real couple but they are very much in character appearing real Punjabis. Sunny gets some whistle blowing moments after a long time in a Bollywood film. Bobby in a short role impresses and so do Dino and Mithun. Vatsal shows remarkable improvement as an actor post his disastrous debut in Tarzan the Wonder Car. Sohail with his witty one-liners keeps you engaged and shows the transformation of his character very well. Amrita and Riya hardly have any role to speak about.
Samir Karnik deserves kudos for choosing a great subject and narrating it very well. He has very well incorporated strong emotions that bring a tear to you eyes. Don’t miss this film; we are sure you will come out a changed person when you see it.

a good movie…………..could have being much stronger in contents but still a nice movie then the others which came around,,,,,,,,,,before interval its gr8 and after that its ok………all n all good movies with something to leearn

i dropped some tears in some shots eg: wen sunny deol tells 2 sohail n vatsal that if u r goin on a bike and a bus hits u frm back and u r dead .. what name will b left wen u r dead nothing..
and also superb acting by preity zinta , salman khan looking 2 good than akshay kumar in pagdi as a sardar, as well as sunny deol.. yes not 2 forget sohail ive never seen him b4 wid such power pack performance both comedy and sad .. vatsal seth is also good in movie overall EVERY ACTOR IS BEST IN MOVIE AND A MUST WATCH MOVIE - paisa wasool

yes there are some very few scenes in movie which keeps u waiting like a song of sohail n vatsal with priyanka stripping them ..
and the fight of sunny deol in club was a bit long but was worth watching after all apna sunny hai boss .. so no issues
i just got bored in the end when mithun keeps rolling and buzzing for dino’s death.
but the surprise package in the last minute was salman khan’s son’s entry .. Keep guessing .. hmm instead of guessing i prefer go watch the movie … awwwsummmmm.

I’m surprised to know so many folks liked this movie. Can you believe Sunny Deol breaking floor tiles with his punches? The first half of the movie was more like a punjabi film. I could not take it any more. I wonder what the director was thinking when he made this movie. Just throw in some patriotism and people start liking the movie.
In short, one of the worst films I’ve seen in recent times.
The movie is not good… cant believe im reading such review. could have been better had they chosen actors over showpieces. the acting was terrible from all sides. ask a real Punjabi.

sunny is such a big ******* he should be in the record books for it.he can’t act for **** and thinks that screaming and pulling out hand pumps will make him a good actor any obscene language used for this pea sized brain person is less.salman’s ans priety’s track was good and mithun in a few places.
I don’t watch alot o Hindi movies, because i cant get many.. i did get a dvd in an Indian store and wasnt so keen on seeing it for its starcast.. bt another friend got it and sorto ended up watching it.. there are some really good scenes and some typical scenes.. overall on a scale of 1-10 would give it an 8… as in worth watching, bt not something i would collect, maybe watch it 2/3 times.
I loved the concept.. 2 kids changing their life scenes i didnt like,
1. The initial scenes where the guys go to root the girls.. ripped from the serial Friends if i remember properly
2. OverPumped rugby/footy with all the stupid thread scenes.. it was important i guess.. bt the way it was over”pumped”
3. Over”pumped” sunny’s fight scene.. m nt sure what all the “**** u sunny” thing above is about.. i guess people need to just see the character. bt yes it was over pumped, but i think i can take it conceptually that its the energy reserved in an angry, helpless, strong airforce guy. Sometimes i guess Nassarudin shah would have been a good choice for that part.
4. Dint like the songs much.
Things i loved,
and the final salmans entry, even though i know most punjabis wont appreciate him removing his beard and pagdi.
1. Surprising star cast and their performance, esp sohil khan. Time he broke off of salmans shadow, asi was going to type.. Salmans bro
2. Preeti zinta, the whole of punjab. Even though i am from south india, i could understand, just requires a set of “open mind” i guess.
3. Jassi!
4. Mithuns.. “Make sure u choose me as ur dad” dialogue. Shows, why he is Mithun-da!
5. Sohil Khan, he did an excellent role and did the charecter exceptionally well
6. The lady singing in the background wanna make u cry.. n the background score.
7. Punjab-Pakistan border gate scene
8. Sohils Fish catchin scene.. even though it felt sorto a stupid scene to have, it wasnt screwed up.
9. The salute to dead bodies behind the truck
10. Patriotism factor. Even though it Just dint touch the “Why to join the army” point.. it dint miss it by much.. no where as spot on as swadesh, but in its own league i suppose.
There are some more points, bt i dont want to be a complete spoiler. As it teaches us one simple part.. “Do ur part for the country”, even if its transferring money into an NRI account in India.
In general, liked the movie, m coming to india soon, so might go to a theatre n watch it properly.. A great family movie, and will make u think about some point. Must see for teenagers n 20-25 year group.
Take ur girlfriend .. n i am sure it will bring people together
Kudos to the surprising start cast - Esp to Sohil Khan and Preeti Zintha, and the director, background score, and cinematography. Would have given it a 10 if more if it was shot something like Omkara or Swadesh without too much overpumps n songs.

Heroes is a totally wasted movie. With the superb storyline this movie could have been one of the best movies but with sloppy nonsense it turns out to be a less than average indian movie. The intro long drawn out overly sexed out sequences with Sohail and the other guy makes no sense and killed the movie right there. The only redeeming part of the movie was the Salman and Preity storyline which really seemed genuine and touching. Only this segment resembled a quality movie. Their song also was the only decent number in the whole movie. All the other songs are utterly forgettable. Sunny Deol’s section was so laughable that it was tragic. Overall This movie gets a weak C. A wasted potential.
