Wednesday Movie Review

At the very beginning we got to clarify that ‘A Wednesday’ is not a film based on the Mumbai train blasts or a sequel to ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ which too was about the blasts that rocked the city two years ago.
This modern master piece tells the story of certain events that unfold between 2 and 6 p.m. on a Wednesday in Mumbai; events that do not exist in any record.
It’s a Wednesday when Prakash Rathod (Anupam Kher), the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai receives a phone call asking him to release four militants.
The caller (Naseeruddin Shah) threatens him saying if he took his call lightly, he would be responsible for a series of bomb blasts in the city. But if he listens to him, many innocent lives would be saved and the caller would also reveal where he had planted the bombs.
Rathod suspects it to be a crank call, but is forced to change his opinion when his men find a bomb at the police station right in front of the headquarters.
It is then that the Chief Minister orders Rathod to tackle this critical situation. While trying to trace the caller, he meets a reporter from a news channel - Naina Roy, played by Deepal Shaw, who has also been tipped off by the same anonymous caller.
Two of Rathod’s best men, Arif (Jimmy Shergill) and Jai (Aamir Bashir) also chip in to trail the caller.
This short, one and a half hour film, has a tight script which would not divert your attention from the silver screen for a split second. Director Neeraj Pandey has filmed some mind-blowing sequences and surely has a creative vision which would help him make a name amongst the top directors of Bollywood pretty soon.
Cinematographer Fuwad Khan’s output is top class while the background score [Sanjay Chowdhury] is stirring.
Performance wise too all the actors have done a brilliant job. Well, that’s expected with actors of the caliber of Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher around. They have yet again proved why they are rated amongst the top actors of recent times.
Jimmy Shergill too has played his part with great effect and turns out to be a surprise package of the flick.
We suggest the viewers should make it a point to catch this beautifully crated movie!

the movie is truely a master piece.. hats off to the makers and actors.. watching such movies one can really proud our indian cinema..
I know that we waste a lot of money on multiplex tickets and popcorns, but mostly for **** movies and I am also very sure that this movie is not going to be a “box office hit”, as they say. But after Rang De Basanti, this happens to the most unique concept or story I’ve ever seen. I see some metal, some reality in bollywood. I must not forget to mention as well that this movie is a very bold attempt and at the same time easily digestive by today’s audience without any objection or hesitation (basically the slangs used so clearly and of course aptly). Neeraj Pandey has done an excellent job, Ronnie Screwvala is one such mature investor in movies who i adore a lot, as he has made some great and eye opening movies for Indian bollywod fans of today. Mr. Naseeruddin Shah’s and Mr. Anupam Kher’s work has been commendable as always without any doubts, but what i like the most is the concept of movie, with such a small investment one can bring out such good movies. Atleast now I can say that there have been few movies off late in bollywood which can give a tough fight to good hollywood movies.

this movie is a MASTERPIECE,and is the best movie in the indian history so far,when it speculated for treatment. Never ever was there a film which moved at this fast space and also justifying all the scenes in middle. Anticlimax and climax are beautifully crafted. Thanx to such movies which save you from guilt of indian movies.Rang de basanti was gud in second part but this was a beautiful journey throughout.great movie with great dialouges like”HUM TO TUMHE AISE HI MARENGE JO KARNA HAI KAR LO” , “MAUT KI GOD MEIN AKKAD KUM HOTI DIKH RAHI HAI”, OR “JAG GAYA TO TAQLEEF HO RAHI HAI”. Sorry i am not gud at appraisal but this is hell of a movie with no dull movement at all except for opening credits of 3-5 minutes but were important for building the plot.
Its a sincere request that if you like the movie please let other people know of it,and write open appraises in blogs,forums etc.Let the makers get reward for their efforts.

After a long long time …..actually, I saw a movie of my choice “A Wednesday” what an amzing director Mr Neeraj is, Naseer sa I think no one else can match your talent of getting under the skin of a Stupid common man, I belive this movie is going to set parameters for forthcoming movies of Bollywood, this is gonna be a milestone for new age Cinema, great going Neeraj, no matter you get award for this film or not but in real sence movie lovers like me will always pray for your success in long run.. This movie is really eye opener for the COMMON MAN, saying that he is the responsible citizen of a country in the nature he takes action to execute. But “REALITY IS MUCH EASIER THAN THIS”… how… “JUST KEEP YOURSELF ALERT AT ALL TIMES AND LOOK FOR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES AND ALERT OFFICIALS”..

Director is very creative, simple line of story with great screenplay….. This is the change what we need in the bollywood.
After “sarkar raj” this is the movie which had some valuable script… and making people to think for a reasonable cause.
I am from mumbai. I was in UK when my wife, her father, my brother in law all were coming from office in the evening.
They still exists but you can imagine what condition I was in UK when this incident happened. Mobiles were blocked too. I was so far for a long time I had to guess whats is happening.
Our government and police should learn something from this movie. Well done sir.

This is an awesome movie. A big applause to the director and dialogue writer. I have no words to praise this movie. I appreciate the efforts made to raise the message in this movie. Nasaruddin Shah was best in the movie. Anupam and inspector Zaheer was too good as well. I loved this movie and would watch it again. 5 STARS from my side.

there is no words to praise this movie despite of my being lawyer.it is greatest movie ever produced or made in the history of indian cinama.cannoyt say a word i am speechless but recommend every indian to see this movie.director SIR neeraj pandey is the greatest gift for indian cinama who can make a movie like this which answer what a comman man can do for our country.i also advice every one stay alert,if u look any suspicious thing around call police.police also doing great work like inspector SH M.C.SHARMA of delhi police real indian hero and a great son of indian soil.salute to him.

This is the shitest and the stupidest movie of bollywood i have ever seen. This is giving a very bad reputation to the national security of india. how can a common indivdual produce a bomb to kill the terrorists. A common man. If its that easy for a common man to make a bomb then it should be subsiquently non effort process for terrorist to make a bomb. The most stupidest idea of a movie.

simply superb
No doubt the movie was a great entertainer and depicts the emotions that a common Indian man like me could relate to (& often dreams of doing something like that). However, I could not understand a few finer points that seemed a bit dramatic.
1) Anupam Kher asks his SI (Jay) that “ho sakta hai sab khatam hone par tumhe arif ko….” Till that point he does not know who the caller is, what is the motive etc. He just thinks he is playing into the hands of a terrorist. So how does he foresee the fake encounter of his cop? To me it seemed that the director was just making the movie spicy because of “arif” being a muslim character and Jay being a hindu.
2) Perhaps I could still ignore the above mentioned point by an explanation that maybe the police commissioner was very very smart and thought of all the possibilities one among them being of an encounter of the terrorists and thus a situation in which Jay may have to fake-shoot Arif. But what about when Arif grabs one of the terrorists as insurance for the information. Now lets see. Arif grabbed him from the location where he was to leave the terrorists. That location could very well have been rigged and for all you know, there may be terrorist-sniper out there. How could Arif take that decision? He does not know who the caller is and he has no idea that the place is bug free. Seems too foolhardy for an ATS commando.
3) The commmon tells the police commissioner that “the place is rigged.No funny business”. Which means that he is giving the impresssion to the police that I already have my people out there and the place under my control so dont make any plans. Why, then, the commissioner finds it normal when the comman calls him and asks him to put thru to the cop at the rendezvous, when he can very well get the information from the scene via his own people?
Any thoughts?

film wednesday shows the pain and power of common man,who fights in his own way agst evil elements with cool minded but there is agony and hotness inside.he loves commonman ,peace progrss but he is different in the way that he cannot tolerate all that rubbish things like injustice,terrorism violence etc.shri krishna says Arjun to fight against injustice and adharma.it is not sin but duty by heart.this film gives us such message with positivity.good cast,acting,direction,production,continuity,theme,cinemetography all is good ,,rather better..congarts to niraj pande and all concerned.i want to create such messageful positive movies based on my own writeen stories.i am author scriptstory song writer stage tv aritst.porbandar gujarat 360575 regards durgesh oza artist

this movie tells the inside story of a common heart and it tells the pain inside every heart.yes,naseer sir tells the truth in the end that our family ask us about a coffee to chips for the sake of our life and by this movie we will clear our concept inside the common mind of a common man.

I was fed up with all the stupid hindi movies made recently. After a long gap i am a satisfied person. A superb movie with a fast script. And man both Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher did a great job. Also its the first time
that i am happy with Jimmy’s performance.

Very nice movie, Great cast, good action very nice screenplay. Very true that Bollywood is trying hard to get away from the sobbing love stories and trying to make some smart movies, This is definitely one of them. I would love to see more of such movies (More concept, direction, story than songs, fights and other worthless ****)….

There is no point in making such movies, if we can not implement the meaning and the moral of it in our day to day lives. If this is just another entertaining piece then it is simply a piece of bollywood, but if we change our outlook to the Indian government and police, it is piece of art.
