The much awaited comedy flick of 2008, Sing Is Kinng has got all the ingredients needed to make a good masala film. It has the maximum dose of laughter with a mixture of drama and emotions which will definitely keep you glued to the silver screen. But like most of Bollywood's comedy movies, you would have to leave your brains behind before you occupy your seat in a theatre and one is sure to have a satisfactory smile, once he or she vacant the seat and step out of the theatre. The only loophole in this otherwise master piece is its second half. Where the first half of the film is extremely entertaining, one expects an even better second but unfortunately, it pales in comparison.
The movie begins with normal irritating Happy Singh (Akshay Kumar) who always tries to be a helping hand but ends up being a nuisance to everybody and then a King. Happy is asked to leave his village as the villagers gets fed up of his magnanimity which results in number of hilariously disastrous situation. Happy even drags his good friend Rangeela (Om Puri) to accompany him in his unknown journey, once out of the village.
Lakhan Singh aka Lucky (Sonu Sood) is the King of the Australian underworld who is accompanied by his associates Javed Jaffrey, Neha Dhupia, Manoj Pahwa, Yashpal Sharma, Kamal Chopra and Sudhanshu Pandey.
Happy's journey which starts from a small village in Punjab travels around Egypt to Australia and it is during this journey when he coincidently meets his lady love Sonia (Katrina Kaif). He also finds warmth and affection in an elderly lady (Kirron Kher) in his journey to become King.
As expected, Akshay has given some mind-blowing action sequences. Also once again Akki has proved that with time, he has really excelled in his comic timing. Movie takes cinematic liberties but the strong points are some of the situational comedy and some witty dialogues. Om Puri is brilliant and his chemistry with Akshay Kumar is one of the strong reasons to watch the movie. Sonu Sood too has performed well. Neha Dhupia undoubtedly looks hot and has done a decent job. Javed Jaffrey is funny and succeeds in touching the laughter bones of the viewers. There's no need to say that versatile Kirron Kher has again done justice with her character. Ravir Shourey's acting talent has been wasted in the film.
Aneez Bazmee has successfully penned down yet another comedy flick but at the same time he disappoints with his direction. He looks confused and has ended up giving a pretty lame climax which lacks the required punch. Ben Nott and Sanjay Gupta’s cinematography is excellent.
The music of the film is already a hit with Pritam delivering some good numbers like Bootni Ke, Jee Karda and Teri Ore. Even the title song of the film is very catchy.
In the end, we would like to advice the die hard fans of Akki, who enjoyed watching his last years releases like Welcome and Heyy Babyy, to rush to their nearest cinema halls and enjoy the flick. Singh Is Kinng is surely going to rule the hearts of the aam janta whose verdict matters the most when it comes to the box-office results.

I saw this movie today and i am forced to leave after the first half, one of the worst movie which Akki bhai has ever done. Film has got some laughter points in first half an hour after that there is hardly any good comedy scene….. u want to laugh but film dont allow u to do that….. no logic at all in the movie..

what do u expect … when the tag line says "singh coming to rule this august".??
what u expect is nothing , but pure magical entertainment of complete fun and frolic. it delivers what it promises. singh is king comes as ray of hope to help bollywood of its misery of its series of seriously made serious super flops. and so be it mr.khiladi strikes again at box office , which is supposed to be his greatest release till date, as the movie is already in profit even before its release.
the most hyped movie of the year revolves around happy singh (akshay)a simpleton who is sent on a mission to bring back the don "king"(sonu)along with his so called non ageing bachelor partner tony (om puri).and this marks the hilarious super duper roller coaster journey of our singh who wins hearts of one and all.
the movie is very well synchronized and each character did utmost justice to his role and mika(javed) the dons brother deserves special mention. the songs are very well choreographed and even quite melolodiusly catchy. the screen play and the dialogues were just apt. action sequences were breathtaking.The beautiful locales of Egypt and australiua just mesmerizes the audience. last but not the least the show stopper, the show stealer just snatches all the glory and reigns supreme. yes mr. akshay proclaims himself as the king of bollywood , the king of kings. "singh is king"….
but some thing that struck me was the filmi dialect , though I under stand the movie is about the sikhhs but the Punjabi dialect may have an adverse effect to the film's box office collections all over as it might will not appeal to a global audience. secondly the first half definitely demands more of the second half, and thirdly the ending demanded a lot more and the audience had to leave not fully content and the reason is we did not want THE SINGH to rule this august only but the whole year.

I dont think Amir Khan films are good. Disney does, and Oscar’s does. Lagaan was nominated for an Oscar even After September 11. Disney bought the rights to Taara Zameen Par. If you ask me honestly I believe Amir Khan’s films are the best Bollywood films have to offer. I too am a very Proud Hindu, and I want a Hindu King but he has to earn it. You can say Amir Khan’s films are not good, But it doesnt make any sense that Hollywood buys his films, and Lagaan was nominated for an oscar. Also SRK is loved by White girls, and black girls. People who dont care about India or Hindu- Muslim divide. I WANT a Hindu king of bollywood, but at the same time, I must credit the Khans, espcailly Amir, he is superior to Akshay any day in movies. If Akshay is to be real king he has to do more then, just say I am Hindu so watch my films he has to earn it.
Some Hindu’s are just excited to see a Hindu man, with a fair Muslim girl, even if the Movie is total senseless, like SIngh is King. Most Sikhs are watching this movie out of Chauvinism. If we want bollywood to compete internationally, we cannot win cheap points with Hindu chauvinism, The world outside India is Muslim and Christian. I am not saying Kissing up to these religions either. I am saying Quality will always triumph cultural chauvinism. You may love India, but you will always buy a Japanese car. You may Love Akshay but you would be silly to want Welcome, or Singh is king to go to Oscar’s instead of Lagaan or Rang De basanti. Amir Khan, is the true King of Bollywood better then SRK or AKKI. Not a Hindu stab, at all.
The quality and direction of Amir Khan films is most superior. Even Oscar recongnized his films. We must give credit to this most patriotic Indian. He can truely lead bollywood to win over international audiences. If we push mediocre actors like Akshay to be kings, we may feel good in India, but oversees, will not truely have a global audience. We will never compete with hollywood. There are only 2 worthy in Bollywoood, to compete oversees, and brothers they are both Khans, SRK and Amir Khan. Both Bollywood legends. I used to force myself to watch there movies because being a proud Hindu, made me cringe. But when Your good your good. I cannot deny Amir khan is good. We may Hate Pakistan, but we cannot deny Imran Khan is a goood Cricketer. Amir however is a proud Indian, and very secularized. Cultural Chauvinism, will make us second rate.

Its funny, how while i love Akki, and hes a hilarious comedian, any old movie he releases will be a hit, because of pure communilism. Also if you were to ask these Hindutava freaks, who’s movie they would rather send to the Oscar’s Amir Khan’s or Akshay Kumar’s garbage like Welcome, Or Singh is King, they would all have no choice but to say Lagaan, inherantly realising, Indian honour is on the line with foreigners, who cant tell the difference between a Hindu or muslim and who dont care. However in the small minded world of India, automatically an Akshay Kumar garbage will be a hit. This movie is mediocre at best, Amir Khan is the king of Bollywood. He makes the best movies period.
Salman Khan, and Akshay Kumar, are still stuck in the 1980’s of cheesy scripts, and bad writing, and they two still do 5 Movies per year. The only person in Bollywood who at at another level is Amir Khan Period. These Hindutava freaks, will not watch his films even when Oscar nominates, them, yet are in praise for this trash singh is king, because Akshay Kumar is a Hindu. I truely would love to see a Hindu King in Bollywood. However he has to earn it, in India the best deserve the most awards. I can say Akki sucks, so do most khans as well. However Amir Khan, 2 levels above the rest period.
The only people who really love this movie, are Sikhs who are just gloating in others faces about there superiority to other Indians. This could have been 2 hours of Akshay kumar on the toilet and these people would say this is the best movie ever.
Its such a damn shame a true Genius like Amir Khan, a True Jewel in India, is not having his movies watched, by these Hindustava Chauvisnist freaks.

i live in Bay area,california,generally hindi movies doesn’t release in theaters like AMC,but Singh is king is released over there. There were 3 shows at the same time all were sold out when reached,
so we bought mummy 3 tickets and seceratly went into singh is king,,, it was one of the best movies i ever watched,i watched this movie sitting on stairs,, today we are going again in white kurta pyjama with punjabi jutti to rock over there.. snoop dogg’s rap was great.. movie is awesome comedy flick..MONEY SINGH

This movie was ridiculous trash, Katrina Kaif is the worst thing Bollywood has ever seen. She cant even speak Indian languages, or anything she doesnt even look Indian. Kajor and Madhuri kill her, in acting, dancing and everything. What I was saying is that shit like Singh is king will never make Bollywood International, it will keep us an India only phenomenon. i believe this movie is based on facts.singhs rule like kings in underworld at some big places too.i know some of the fans of bollywood are not used to see singhs as kings. mabye they are too soft and lose confidence in thier own roots watching this movie.but akshey kumar was born in punjab and as a punjabi he killed it in this movie, akshay is smart too, looking at the punjabi community world wide.after 1984 punjabis had spreaded out
