I don't have a TV in my home: Shruti Ulfat
Shruti Ulfat, the bubbly bud of Chalti Ka Naam Gadi, is making her comeback on television with a new series called Zindagi Badal Sakta Hai Haadsa. The actress has enjoyed a long break from television due to her pregnancy. Here she manages her valuable time to talk with us about her re-entry on small screen and shares with us her experience of achieving motherhood…
Q. Please tell us about the show Zindagi Badal Sakta Hai Haadsa.
A. The team of Zindagi Badal Sakta Hai Haadsa have tried to create an emotional, social and detective kind of drama, where there will be a story revolving around an incident that has happened anywhere in the country like the kidney racket and so on. It's Haadsa, one incident that can change your life.
Q. Why did you opt to make your comeback with this show?
A. Well, I can’t give 25 to 30 days per month in shooting and as this serial is episodic show, I can work for 15 days and give rest of the precious time to my family which now also includes my one year old son Ojasya Soham Ulfat.
Q. Your character in the show…
A. It’s a story about a young couple whose new born child gets missing and after a gap of seven years they visit a temple in Jodhpur knowing about its power of fulfilling everyone's wishes. Here they meet another couple whom someone had sold their child. The couple, met at the temple, promises to help them in finding their child who is in their house itself. The story revolves around how the couple finds the child and so on. After that a kidney racket incident takes place. The mother, who, till the time, took care of the child, sacrifices her.
Q. Life after becoming mother…
A. Oh its fantastic, I mean it’s a most wonderful award one can get. It feels very nice. I think a woman is complete after she gives birth to a child. I like spending time with my son and as I said earlier that's the reason I decided to take on this show which allows me that to spend precious moments with my son.
Q. Don’t you think today all the serials have become a clone to each other?
A. Yes it has become a clone to each other. All the characters in the serials look same and the story also has the same thing to say. It's very sad to see that we are not allowing our creativity and innovativeness to come out.
Q. If offered a role in a Saas-Bahu serial will you go for it?
A. I will defiantly see what the story is about and then if something excites me I will do it.
Q. What do you think about the reality shows?
A. I couldn't comment as I don't have a TV in my home. I am been staying in Dehradun for a long time now. It’s easy to spend time by watching the TV but at the same time your child gets addicted to it which I don't want to happen.
Q. Does anchoring helps on to be a good actor?
A. It gives a different perspective of being a performer. Earlier there were no scripts and while doing Chalti Ka Naam Antakshri we used to do things instantly depending upon the time and situation because in anchoring you play yourself and no other character. But today scripts are been written for anchoring too. I think that's ok with countdown shows but now reality shows.
Q. Your other projects…?
A. I have few things lined up with Cinevista and Meditech but nothing yet concrete now. I have just completed shooting of …Haadsa and now I am totally into theater. Right now I am busy with our theater company. - Sabir Rahman (SAMPURN)
