Jhamu Sugandh passes away
Bollywood personalities paid homage to producer and financer Jhamu Sugandh who died on Monday (27th May 08) following a cardiac arrest. Early Monday morning Sugandh was rushed to Life Criticare Hospital in Juhu after having suffered breathing problems where he passed away a little before noon. The fifty-five-year old filmmaker was cremated at the Juhu Crematorium on the same evening.
Having a 25 year long association with Bollywood Jhamu Sugandh produced movies like Filhaal, Chachi 420, Rangeela and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. He also produced off-beat movies like Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s Kaalpurush and Deepa Mehta’s Earth. Jhamu Sugandh's company, Jhamu Sugandh productions was also associated with Kolkatta film industry. Recently Sugandh had announced his plans to produce at least six Bengali films.
Producers and distributors, including Pahlaj Nihalani, Rattan Jain, Shyam Shroff, Kuku Kohli and others, paid their last respects to the this legendary film maker. -(SAMPURN)
