Danny Boyle critizes SRK
Danny Boyle, the internationally acclaimed film maker is not too impressed with the ‘Bollywood ka Badshah’ SRK!
The Bitch reports that when Danny Boyle was hell-bound in casting either Big B or Shah Rukh Khan to play the talk show host in his international movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ as the two big stars held the big reputation to have hosted the very successful ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, talks with SRK fell flat as the actor did not find the honest intentions of the film impressive indeed.
While the reasons behind Big B’s unavailability still remains unconfirmed, the Bitch’s source claims, “When Danny Boyle went personally to meet Shah Rukh Khan at his Mannat residence to talk him thro’ the role, it was very surprising that the Super Star actor did not even have time to sit thro’ the meeting. It was a shocking state of affair when SRK kept himself busy watering his plants and gardening, even while Danny waited to kick-start a conversation with the star about his film”.
Well, as the saying goes, ‘One person’s loss is another’s gain’, and in all this, the person who won the ‘Jackpot’ role is the multitalented Anil Kapoor.
For the uninitiated, ‘Slum Dog Millionaire’ is Boyle’s project set in India. The film is said to be based on the bestselling novel, ‘Q and A’ by Vikas Swarup. An illiterate Indian street kid from Mumbai participates in KBC to reach his missing girlfriend, whom he knows watches the show religiously. He then goes on to win the jack pot on the show. The lead is played by a young new comer and there are not too many known faces in the film.
Pondering more on the strange behaviour of SRK towards Boyle, should we infer that the actor was trying to show-off his household skills before the master film maker? Has the star’s act not contradicted the very notion that Indians treat their guests as God?
Whatever be it, this incident has surely left a numb feeling in Boyle’s mind and he showed it by not approaching the great star again for the role!
We just cannot get over the fact that SRK could turn so inhumane.. Is all this indicating to the fact that, all that matters to SRK is fame, name and glory? Keep a close watch on the Badshah’s moves and you will surely get a hint!

If in Slum Dog Millionaire the “illiterate Indian street kid from Mumbai“ really “ participates in KBC to reach his missing girlfriend, whom he knows watches the show religiously“ it is just a watered-down version of Q & A. In the book, the boy wants to participate because the game show host is the sadistic lover of his former film actress employer and the man who has tortured and beaten up the boy’s love, a young prostitute. He plans to kill that man onstage at an opportunity like not knowing the answer to a question - which to his own surprise doesn’t occur till the very end. Of course you have to read the entire book to get this far. In the book the game show host is a a real scumbag as well as a coward and sadist, which wouldn’t play well as a cameo appearance where a character can’t be developed or justified in his actions. SRK certainly hasn’t shied away from roles as a villain in his career, but if Danny Boyle did stick to the plot of the book after all, this cameo wouldn’t be opportune for SRK at a time when he is hosting several game shows for real, and if Danny Boyle does use his own watered-down version for the screen-play the film will be much less touching than the book. Anil Kapoor is welcome to this role.- Farida
