One arrested for making obscene calls to Bollywood actresses

Police today claimed to have arrested one person from Hyderabad for allegedly making obscene calls and threatening a score of Bollywood stars, including reigning divas Kareena Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra.

Addressing mediapersons here today, Additional Police Commissioner (West) Archana Tyagi said Mohammed Mehraj Saeed Anwar alias Sonu alias Naved Don was arrested by a team of Mumbai police from Hyderabad on Friday, and was brought to Mumbai on a transit remand today.

”Mehraj’, against whom four cases are already registered with the Oshiwara and Bhoiwada Police Station for threatening some film personalities, was wanted by the Mumbai police earlier also. He used to send obscene and vulgar messages to film actors and actress. He would also send them threats like he would throw acid on their faces,” she said.

Film actress Kangana Ranawat, Isha Koppikar, Vidya Balan, Nagma, Ishita Arun, Nandini Jumani and Smruti Irani, Shefali Shah and actors Prem Chopra, Gufi Pental and K K Menon were the other personalities who had become the target of his ‘mobile call panic.’ She said Mehraj’s arrest come after ”collating human intelligence and technical inputs.” Recently, a delegation led by film-maker Ashok Pandit had also called on the Mumbai police top brass and demanded that the culprit be arrested.

When asked what were the ‘technical inputs’ that led to his arrest, Tyagi refused to part with the information and said ”operational details can’t be divulged at this stage as the investigation in the case was still in progress.”
