Eight IIFA to be held in Yorkshire

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has announced that the eighth annual International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) will be held in Yorkshire for four days from June 7.

“It is really a coming together of communities. We are very grateful to the British Government for their cooperation and for their respective dignity that they gave to the Indian film industry. We are also happy to see our association with Yorkshire, which has been so fruitful whether it has been in a form of education with Leeds University, the Metropolitan University. It is coming together on a more social and a larger platform of global,” said Bachchan, a brand ambassador of IIFA.

The award ceremony will be held in a bid to promote the Indian film Industry.

The venue will host the stars of Indian cinema, government office bearers, corporate heads and several Indian film fans from all across the world.

Bachchan was a rage of Indian cine goers in the 1970s and 1980s and is still amongst the most popular in the country.

He was voted the millennium’s greatest star of the stage and the screen in a BBC online poll three years ago.

Britain, with its large Asian population has a huge following for the Indian films.
