Abhishek’s Kanpur ‘uncle’ to offer traditional sweets

Albeit uninvited, Prakash Pandey, a modest sweetmeat maker has packed traditional sweets and boarded a train to the tinsel city of Mumbai to offer it to Bollywood’s hottest stars – Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai on their wedding on Friday.

Pandey who runs a moderate shop in Kanpur District claimed he personally knew Abhishek, as he came to his shop during a film shoot. He said he could not have made it to the coveted guest list but he is sure about being given an opportunity to offer his delicacies to Abhishek on ‘D’ day.

“I am going to Mumbai with my sweets for the marriage of Abhishek, as he is my nephew by relation. I didn’t receive any invitation. Invitations have been restricted to 300 to 350 only, but I am going on my own. When Abhishek came two and a half years ago to Kanpur for the shooting of his film Bunty and Bubli, he came to my shop and called me uncle despite the presence of his own uncle. So, he is my nephew,” said an elated Pandey.

Confident about entering the wedding venue, Pandey said: “Yes, I will be allowed as I have been there before. And, if I am not allowed, then I will sit at the gate of the Bachchan’s residence and sell sweets there.”

The Ash-Abhi wedding is expected to be a low-key affair attended by a small group of friends and relatives and friends.

Abhishek and Aishwarya got engaged on January 11, ending speculation about their hush-hush romance.
