Popstar Shakira’s maiden concert in Mumbai today
(1 votes, average: 5 out of 5)Colombian popstar Shakira will perform her maiden concert in India in the country’s main entertainment hub Mumbai on Sunday evening.
Shakira arrived here on Saturday and was given a rousing reception by a large crowd of fans at the airport.
The singing-dancing sensation was visibly taken aback by the reception, but said she was glad to be touring India at last.
“India is such an inspiring country… To me and my career, its music, its culture is very rich, and I love it. The people from India… I have some very good friends from here as well. So it is definitely a wonderful experience… to be able to sing for the Indian people for the first time in my life…” Shakira said.
Much unlike other celebrities who keep behind dark glasses and heavy security, Shakira walked up to waiting fans, giving hugs and blowing kisses.
The Colombian star, an international hit as much for her dance moves as her singing abilities in numbers like ‘Whenever Wherever’ and ‘Hips Don’t Lie’, will perform at the Bandra Kurla Complex as part of her international ‘Oral Fixation’ tour.
