Daler hearing posted for Apr 17

A local court today deferred to April 17 the hearing of a 2003 human trafficking case against pop singer Daler Mehandi and his brother Shamsher.

Daler Mehndi’s revision petition in the case is due for hearing in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Sukhwinder Kaur tomorrow.

He was present in the court of Judicial Magistrate Rajwinder Singh, who could not take up the matter as the case file was summoned by the additional sessions court.

Patiala police registered a case against Daler and Shamsher Mehndi on September 19, 2003 under various sections of the IPC and Indian Passport Act at on the complaint of Bakhshish Singh of Balbehra village and 24 others.

They alleged that the two took money from them on the promise of including them in their troupe during foreign trips.

They were neither taken abroad nor was their money returned, their FIR said.
