Soha Ali Khan to return with two English films
The royals lost their kingdoms long back in India, but this princess seems determined to rule again - albeit the tinsel world of Bollywood.
Having got critical acclaim for her last Bengali venture ‘Antarmahal’, actor Soha Ali Khan is now ready with two English films, one of them with stalwarts such as Nasseruddin Shah and Victor Banerjee.
“Yes, I am working in two English films now. One is called ‘Meridian’, while the other with Nasseruddin Shah and Victor Banerjee is ‘Post Card’,” she says.
Though disappointed at the failure of last year’s blockbuster ‘Rang De Basanti’ to make it to the Oscars, she wishes all the luck to Mira Nair’s ‘Water’ which is in the fray as a Canadian entry.
“Obviously I am disappointed that Rakeysh Mehra’s ‘Rang De Basanti’ did not make it to the Oscars,” she says when asked about her reaction to the film’s exit from the world’s most coveted honour in cinema.
“I am all for Mira Nair’s Water. After all, it is an Indian film,” she says.
“But it is a Canadian entry,” she adds with a smile on her face.
Having already experimented with different genres and languages in cinema in her short tenure in the tinsel world, Soha believes good cinema cannot be categorised into genres or languages.
“I love to work in good films. Whether it is Hindi, Bengali or English, it does not really matter,” she says.
