Movies create atmosphere for human development : Nitish
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today lauded the film industry for playing an important role in creating public opinion against many crucial issues.
“Movies, particularly Hindi films play a vital role in creating public opinion and an atmosphere for the growth of human development,” Kumar said inaugurating the second Patna Film Festival being organised by the state Public Relations Department in collaboaration with National Film Archives of India and the Bihar Art College.
Kumar also urged the Bhopuri filmmakers to avoid portraying women indescently in their films.
He said he had received complaints that Bhojpuri films, in a bid to become successful portrayed women in an indescent manner.
“This should not be done and stopped forthwith,” he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi in his address said the government would soon come out with a policy for the promotion of film industry in Bihar.
“We have already reduced the entertainment tax and are contemplating to bring a legislation so that more and more cinema halls and multiplexes are opened in the state”, Modi said.
Noted film director Prakash Jha thanked the Bihar government for according the status of industry to cinema and said this would go a long way in the development of the industry.
The films to be screened include Devi(Bengali) Black Friday, Utsav, Dor, Pinjar (all Hindi), Seven Samurai (Japan) Bicycle Thieves (Italy), Wages of Fear (France), a short film about love (Belgium), Mane (Kannada), Senur ke Laaz (Maithili) and Dangal (Bhojpuri).
