Koena Mitra slaps notice on event organiser for ‘intimidation’
Actress Koena Mitra has slapped a legal notice on an event organiser, accusing her of criminal intimidation and defamation, her counsel said today.
The notice was sent to event organiser and actor Dolly Bindra after she and her husband allegedly made calls to Mitra, asking her to pay them Rs eight lakh for “getting” her a role in a movie, Nilesh Pawaskar, Mitra’s counsel said.
“Mitra had been signed on for a project in December and Bindra would call her up saying she had got her the role and demanded money for doing so. When she refused to pay, Bindra and her husband began making threatening calls to Mitra,” Pawaskar said.
Mitra in her notice to Bindra said she would file a complaint with the police against her on charges of criminal intimidation, defamation and extortion if the calls did not stop.
She also filed a non-cognisable complaint with the Oshiwara police authorities who summoned Bindra to the police station yesterday to speak to her on the issue, Pawaskar said.
