Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, revelling in her newfound fame after winning a British reality television show Big Brother’, made a quick dart back home on Saturday evening because of “home-sickness”.

Meanwhile, she has also received an extension of her work permit in UK, where she will be giving more interviews and could be participating in other television shows.

“I feel great. I was missing India and it was an impromptu decision last night that I wanted to come back… because I was missing my Dad, my sister,” she told reporters after paying her visit to the famous Siddhivinayak temple along with her family members.

The priests were amused to see the huge media congregation at the temple when Shetty made an entry.

“No more than few photographers used to be present when she (Shilpa) used to visit here earlier. She comes here every Tuesday night. But today it was phenomenal,” said a priest of the temple.

Though it may be ‘homesickness’ that has brought Shetty back home, there are reports that she has received a ‘plum’ offer to act in a film under a ‘big banner’. She is also expected to complete few of her projects that she had signed before going to London to participate in the celebrity TV reality show.

With an extended work permit, she may now return back to London helping her to make money from lucrative personal appearances in other shows.

Shetty emerged victorious from the Big Brother House last month after being subjected for weeks to disparaging remarks from some fellow contestants that sparked international uproar. Viewers vote to evict contestants and she was the last member.

The A-list Indian star was called a “dog” on the programme and was referred to as “the Indian” and “Poppadom”.

Shetty was later invited to the British parliament, and was hosted by Prime Minister Tony Blair and wife Cheri amid a raging international discussion over racism in the British psyche.

Asked about her feelings towards her Big Brother tormenters, who have been vilified in the British press, she had earlier said she bore no grudges.
