Hearing in Salman case adjourned to March 19

A local court today adjourned till March 19 hearing in the appeals filed by actor Salman Khan against the sentences for poaching.

Hearing of the appeals was adjourned as District Judge GS Surana was on leave, HM Saraswat, counsel for Khan said.

Officiating Judge, P K Mathur allowed the application filed on behalf of the actor for exemption from appearance on the ground of busy shooting schedule, he said.

In the appeal of Bhawad poaching case, the prosecution has filed an application for summoning the record and in Ghora Farm case, the defence wanted to confirm some facts regarding filing of appeals by prosecution in the appellate court.

One appeal was filed by Salman in Bhawad poaching case wherein he was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment with a fine of Rs 5,000/- on 17 Feb, 2006 under the Wild Life Protection (WLP) Act for poaching of two deer on September 26-27 1998 near Bhawad in Jodhpur District.

Another appeal was filed in Ghora Farm case of September 28,1998 against the five-year sentence and fine of Rs 25,000 by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Jodhpur under Section 51 of WLP Act.
