‘Ghatothkach’- Master of magic by Shemaroo
After Hanuman, Shri Krishna, now its time for Ghatothkach, son of Bhim and Hidimbi- lovingly called “Ghattu”.
The story of Ghatothkach is all about the magical escapades of Bhim’s Son, is an interesting chapter from our rich heritage- Mahabharata. It is a story that has magic, action, romance, comedy, fantasy and is complete with foot-tapping songs in it.
This movie is directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, who has been the director of several internationally acclaimed films. Innovator to the core, he has experimented with unique subjects and platforms over a span of 50 years and across 60-odd films in his career. He is known for his innovative children’s films “Little John” and “Son of Alladin” a 3D animated film. To add to this are films like Pushpak with Kamal Hasan and Amala, the silent movie which spoke a lot, Appu Raja and Mayuri with Sudha Chandran among others.
This project is in pipeline of Shemaroo, according to Heren Gada (Vice President of Shemaroo)- ‘As a content house, creation of content is the next step of us. In line with this stratergy, we have ventured into creation of live-action and animation among other content. We look to bring unique entertainment genres across the various platforms that audience will love to consume.’
As animation movies are taken boom in Indian market, this movie is also going to be a big success as Hanuman. Now a days parents are ready in all aspects to give a healthy knowledge to their children along with entertainment and because of this animated movies children knowing about mythological characters. And any how children are not going to listen these stories from their parents due to their busy schedules. It has been a good medium for children to know about our mythology.
Smita Maroo Vice President Animation Division at Shemaroo says, ‘We were looking some innovative project when we came across Director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. Mr. Rao mentioned that he was directing “Ghatothkach” which was under production at Hyderabad based Sun Animatics. The character of Ghatothkach and the script brought out the inner child in us and we were totally fascinated’.
