FTII to collaborate with Hollywood
The Films and Television Institute of India (FTII) of Pune and the Satyajit Ray Film Institute of Kolkata will soon collaborate with Hollywood, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said here Monday.
Addressing the 7th Editors’ Conference on Social Sectors, the minister said that the state-supported institutes would collaborate with Hollywood on various aspects of film production.
He said the government intended to revive and strengthen the National Films Development Corporation (NFDC), which played an important role in the 1970s and early ’80s in encouraging young and promising filmmakers.
The government was considering an amendment to the Prasar Bharati Act to decide the extent of budgetary support to the public broadcaster and a group of ministers (GoM) was constituted for the purpose, Dasmunsi said.
