Film director Anjan Chowdhury dead

Noted Bengali film director Anjan Chowdhury died at a private city hospital tonight after a brief illness, hospital sources aid.

Chowdhury (63), who underwent a bypass surgery last week, later slipped into coma and the end came tonight, the sources said.

Chowdhury, who ventured into film direction after remaining a script writer for several years, shot into fame with hits like ‘Shatru’, ‘Gurudakshina’ and ‘Mejo Bou’.

He is survived by wife and two daughters. One of the daughters, Chumki, is also an actress.
