Case involving Priyanka Chopra transferred to Indore

A court today transferred to this city a case filed in Mhow town against Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra by her former secretary in connection with alleged threats by underworld don Chhota Shakeel following a dispute over the payment of commission.

Accepting the application moved by Priyanka and her father Ashok Chopra, Chief Judicial Magistrate A P Rahul transferred the case from Mhow to a court here, her counsel Chandrashekhar Raikwar told PTI.

In her plea, Priyanka had voiced fears that a law and order problem might arise if she and her father travelled by road to appear in the court in Mhow, around 24 km from here, for the next hearing on February 22.

She referred to protests staged earlier against her in Mhow while seeking the transfer of the case.

The court in Mhow had issued summons to Priyanka and her father in connection with the case filed by her former secretary Prakash Jaju, who alleged that Chhota Shakeel had made threatening calls on their behalf following a dispute over the payment of commission amounting to Rs 1.37 crore.
