Big B greets Abhishek on birthday; Ash, Jaya fail to make it
Actor Abhishek Bachchan turned 31 today and was greeted on the sets of ‘Drona’ at Junagarh Fort by his father and Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan and the film crew amid the buzz of ardent fans.
The birthday cake was cut at the stroke of midnight after Bachchan and his friend and Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh arrived from Mumbai yesterday though Abhishek’s mother Jaya Bachchan and his bethrothed Aishwarya Rai were conspicuous by their absense.
Jaya, who is also starring in the film, had left for Mumbai five days ago and was due to return with Aishwarya for the celebrations, but somehow could not make it, sources in the film sets said.
“I have been coming to Rajasthan on and off for various reasons. This time, however, I am here to celebrate the Abhishek’s birthday,” Bachchan told reporters at Nall airport.
After getting off the chartered flight from Mumbai, he went directly to the hotel where his son and other members of the crew were staying, and spent the rest of the day watching the film shoot, the sources said.
The local fan club had made a beeline for the airport on hearing that the megastar was coming.
Bachchan and Singh left for Mumbai this morning.
