Indian music has a speciality: Shubha Mudgal
Each genre of music had a speciality of its own which needed acceptance from lovers of the art, eminent Hindustani classical singer Shubha Mudgal said today.
Shubha, who was here to participate in Ernakulam District Tourism Promotion Council’s ‘Vasantholsavam 2006′ programme, told reporters that Pop music is not noisy as it has got its own speciality.
The speciality of Indian music is that it has variety, she said adding she had been learning music for the last 25 years with the curiosity of a student.
Accepting remuneration by those who have taken music as a profession, cannot be considered as “commercialisation of music”, she said.
“We cannot say that the younger generation musicians are less dedicated,” she replied to a query in this respect.
