I can’t believe I’m 25, says Sammir Dattani

On his 25th birthday Saturday, Bollywood actor Sammir Dattani was inundated by fans in Bangalore.

The occasion was the music release of his new Kannada film “Sajini” and the girls screamed as if they had seen tomorrow.

But the cynosure of attention was blushing beetroot.

“I can’t handle unwanted attention, specially from people whom I don’t know. I’m a guy who believes in commitment in a relationship. I can’t be frivolous even in casual random bondings like the fan-star one.

“I think the attention I get in Bangalore is very precious. Hopefully I’ll get some of that in Mumbai soon,” Dattani told IANS.

In 2007 Sammir has three releases. “Mani Shankar’s ‘Mukhbiir’, Nisha Chainai’s ‘Mumbai Marathon’ and Vikram Bhatt’s ‘Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhie’ feature me in pivotal roles. I can’t wait to be 26. Because by then my fate in movies will be decided.”

Sammir shares his birthday with his “Pyar Mein Kabhi Kabhie” director Bhatt.

“We’re both very quiet thoughtful Aquarians. We believe in being calm and just do our kaam. I believe Bobby Deol, who is Vikram’s best friend and who’s also born on 27 Jan, is also the same. Put all three of us in the same room and you can’t hear a sound except the mind and heart ticking.”

Birthday gifts? “The big one is a Sony laptop from a very special friend. Don’t ask who that special friend is.”
