Aishwarya, Abhishek’s engagement will boost ‘Guru’: analyst
The news of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s engagement yesterday has not only brought cheers to legions of their fans but also to the film industry, particularly to producers of their latest flick “Guru”.
“Although the film has been doing well since its release, it will definitely pick up today after news of the engagement came out last night. ‘Guru’ is a good film but will do even better because of this,” said film analyst Taran Adarsh.
The two stars exchanged rings last night at a private ceremony at Bachchans’ residence in suburban Juhu, confirming months of speculation that the duo were a couple.
“This association will only strengthen the careers of the two rather than affect them. Aishwarya going into the Bachchan family is a great thing and it’s a myth that once a heroine gets married she loses her appeal,” he said.
The two have starred in several films like “Dhai Akshar Prem Ke”, “Kuch Na Kaho” and the recent “Umrao Jaan” but have not had any hits till now as a couple.
Mani Ratnam’s “Guru”, however, has won both of them acclaim from both critics and audiences.
Both Abhishek and Aishwarya have had failed relationships in the past. While Abhishek’s much publicised engagement to actress Karisma Kapoor broke in 2002, Aishwarya has been linked with actors Viveik Oberoi and Salman Khan in the past.
After the engagement, Abhishek left for Jaipur to shoot for Goldie Behl’s “Drona”, while Aishwarya will commence shooting for Ashutosh Gowarikar’s “Jodha Akbar” on the outskirts of Mumbai from tomorrow.
