Aish and Abhi romance is no longer hush-hush

 Bollywood actors, top industrialists and politicians arrived at Bachchan’s house today to congratulate the hottest couple Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai.

And the good news is that both got engaged in a private ceremony in Mumbai on Sunday evening after Bachchan reportedly placed a diamond ring on the actress’ finger.

Amitabh Bachchan told media that Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya in New York last week after the world premier of their latest film “Guru”.

As news of the engagement spread, fans of Big B gathered outside his house.

“Since my childhood, I have been a big fan of Amitabh Bachchan. I have never missed any of his movies. Today, I have come here to give blessings to Abhishek and Aishwarya for a long life,” said Rani Kapoor, one of his fans.

The ceremony took place on one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar (Makar Sankranti).

Speculation of a romance gained ground after their families visited several temples to pray for the two lovers, whose stars were reportedly not in harmony.

Aishwarya accompanied the Bachhan family offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, at the Ram Janaki Temple near the Sankat Mochan Temple.

There have been enough rumours in the media about marriage between Abhishek and Aishwarya, but neither family has confirmed it.

Reports of an impending marriage were earlier fuelled after Ajitabh Bachchan, younger brother of the Big B, met a Bangalore based astrologer Chandrashekhar Swami, to see if the couple’s horoscopes match.

The planets also seem to be blessing the couple, for they were declared to be a ‘perfect match’ by the astrologer.

Abhishek was earlier engaged to Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor in 2002, but the marriage was called off.

Abhishek (30) and Aishwarya (33) have starred together in Hindi films like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Kuch Na Kaho, Umrao Jaan and Dhoom II as also Mani Ratnam’s “Guru”.

Aishwarya, who has acted in over 40 films, was crowned Miss World in 1994. Abhishek too has acted in about 40 films.

Fans are hoping that the couple, who set the screen alight with their performance in ‘Kajra Re, Kajra Re’ in the hit movie ‘Bunty aur Babli’, will indeed be ‘Mr and Mrs Bachchan’ soon.
