Shahrukh on bungalow issue
The Bombay High Court today sought an affidavit from actor Shahrukh Khan containing his reply on a public interest litigation that alleges violation of municipal laws in the construction of a building adjacent to his bungalow in Bandra.
Last year, the High Court had dismissed another PIL which had objected to this construction on the ground that the plot was originally reserved for an art gallery. It had alleged the reservation was later changed arbitrarily.
The current PIL filed by the NGO Bhrashtachar Nirmulan Sanghtana has alleged that the construction being done by Shahrukh violates the Development Control Rules, in that it does not leave a mandatory 9.15 m wide strip around the structure that is meant for future widening of roads.
The construction blocks a public road, the PIL alleged.
Shahrukh is to file his reply by January 31.
