Aishwarya’s lawyer denies ED probe

Amid reports that actress Aishwarya Rai was being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate for receiving Rs 50 lakh through hawala channels, her lawyer today alleged her client was being maligned for “political reasons” and said she has not been contacted by ED in this regard.

“My client absolutely denies receiving any money through illegal channels. This allegation is totally baseless and is being done to malign my client for political reasons. We have not been contacted by the ED in this regard,” Aishwarya’s lawyer Girish Kulkarni told PTI here.

“Which person in his logical mind will pay such a huge amount of money for an event in which she did not even perform? This allegation is being made by vested interests to malign my client,” Kulkarni said.

“The media should also look at a story objectively and try to ascertain the facts. This story is not true,” he added.
