Rajshree’s broadband portal
Eyeing a fresh revenue stream, the entertainment group Rajshree Media has launched its broadband portal, which will offer streaming and downloading of movies, music videos, TV serials among others.
The portal ‘Rajshree.Com’ will also offer documentaries, concerts and short films. The user can avail the streaming facility for free whereas for downloading the content, the user will have to pay, Rajshree Media Managing Director Rajjat A Barjatya said.
The portal has primarily targetted the NRI community as it has stipulated the payment mode for downloading of the movies only through international credit cards.
The download-to-rent option will be wrapped with advanced technology to prevent copy and pirating content. The cost of the new venture will be met with the pre roll, mid roll and post roll advertisements.
“The customer will not have to pay for the facility if he chooses to go for the stream option, the expense of the setting up the platform and services would be met through the advertisements which will show in between the film,” Barjatiya added.
The foray into New Media will happen with the company releasing its new movie ‘Vivah’ on the portal tomorrow which will become the first film of Indian Cinema to premier on the internet on the same day of its theatrical release.
“The movie (Vivah) would be available in high bandwidth and low bandwidth at a downloading price of USD 9.99, which the users can pay through an international credit card,” he said.
Although he did not give a standard rate for downloading, he said generally it could be 4.99 dollars and could be less for old movies.
