Hans Raj Hans regales audience in Kurukshetra
Famous sufi and pop singer Hans Raj Hans today mesmerised the audience with his performance at the holy bank of Brahmasarovar here on the second day of four-day Gita Jayanti Samaroh.
Bulleh Shah awardee Hans presented soulful renditions of the ‘Sufiana Kalaam’ including songs like “Hoo Kalaam” and “Haq Bahoo..Dam Dam Bahoo”.
During the programme, Hans elaborated sufi singing as the supreme truth. “Where all religions become silent, Sufism starts,” he said.
Hans has done an extensive research on sufi saints such as Baba Farid, Baba Bulle Shah, Shah Husain, Hashmat Shah and Waris Shah to refine his singing.
The event was inaugurated by Haryana minister for urban development Savitri Jindal and was organised by Public Relations and Cultural Affairs Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Jindal said that sufi music is unique as it takes listeners into spiritual ecstasy.
This music is going to be popular day by day as it possesses the quality of traditional Punjabi Sufiyana style, she added.
Earlier, renowned musician Bhawani Parsad, based in Rajasthan, performed Shiv Tandav in Raag Malkaunse and Pakhawaj. He also played folk music of the state.
