Filmmakers at NSUI meet
It was not a ‘page three’ affair but a Bollywood remix with a difference that was seen at a camp organised by Congress’ students wing here.
A three-day long training programme for the NSU(I) office bearers, ‘Drishticon-2006′, which concluded here yesterday, witnessed sessions by ace film directors.
Apart from lectures by directors Madhur Bhandarkar and Ashok Pandit, the NSU(I) leaders also listened to a passionate speech on ’secularism’ by ace filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.
“It is believed that youth identify better to these personalities than anyone else and hence we thought it was apt to invite them to our meet,” said NSU(I) president Nadeem Javed.
“If Mahesh Bhatt talks of secularism, it is accepted, rather than being told repeatedly by a political figure,” he said.
Madhur Bhandarkar, in his speech, called upon the youths to associate with a social cause in every work they do, as he has done in his movies, Page 3 and Chandni Bar.
