Delhi girl wins IFFI-2006 poster competition
Delhi resident Shivani Sharma today won the nationwide poster competition organised in connection with the International Film Festival of India-2006 scheduled to begin here on November 23.
Twenty-three-year-old Shivani’s painting of a peacock was adjugded the best poster in the competition organised by the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), the nodal agency for IFFI-2006.
Bollywood stars Sohail Khan and Riya Sen, in the presence of Goa Chief Minister Pratapsingh Rane, unveiled Shivani’s poster, a copy of which will be put up at all venues during the 11-day festival.
“It’s a dream come true,” Shivani, a student of south Delhi’s Women’s Polytechnic, told reporters after the unveiling ceremony.
“I am very happy to be the winner of this contest. Morever, I am glad that I am associated with this prestigious event,” she said.
Shivani, however, said she would be unable to attend the IFFI this year as her classes are on.
About her award-winning creation, she said, “The poster is an abstract painting and captures the essence of IFFI as a vibrant and colourful festival representing India on the international film circuit.” Shivani’s first love is abstract painting and she is happy that it has garnered her a national honour.
