A public suit was filed in the Allahabad High Court Tuesday against the allotment of a huge plot of land by the Uttar government to superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

Petitioner Satya Narain Shukla has alleged that about 20,000 square metres of government land was clandestinely allotted to Bachchan in Barabanki district, some 35 km from the state capital.

Alleging violation of rules, the petition sought to draw the attention of the court to the “wilful concealment and misrepresentation of facts” by the superstar.

“In an obvious bid to avoid identification, Bachchan has mentioned his name as just Amitabh and has dropped Bachchan even from his father’s name,” the petitioner told IANS here Tuesday evening.

Taking note of the petition, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court directed the advocate general to “seek instructions” from the government.

Judge Jagdish Bhalla fixed Oct 16 for the initial hearing of the case.
