The trend of making films based on real life stories in the Bollywood continues with the yet-to- be released movie “Gafla” made against the backdrop of the 1992 stock market scam allegedly involving Big Bull Harshad Mehta.

Gafla, inspired by the boom and bust scams of the Mumbai stock market, is slated for all India release on October 6.

The role of the Big Bull (Harshad Mehta) is being played by Vinod Sharawat, a young player who enters the stock markets with a dream of making big bucks.

“I play the big bull. My character is inspired by Harshad Mehta and his rags-to-riches story,” Vinod Sharawat, who plays the protaganist in the movie, told PTI.

The character played by Vinod wants to make money and his brilliance makes him successful but he is at the mercy of big players with the option of either becoming a big player or following a secondary career. Eventually, he prefers to become the big bull, says Sharawat.

The movie is produced, written and directed by Sameer Hanchate and is made with a small budget of Rs three crore.

This film has also been selected for its screeing at the London Film festival to be held from October 18 to November 2, 2006.
