Movie Hope and a Little Sugar Wins Award
Bollywood director Tanuja Chandra, whose film “Hope And A Little Sugar” won the best feature film award at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York this week, has said the movie represented the best possible way for the East and West to meet.
The film, produced by New York-based filmmakers Glenn Russow and Scott Padro, tells a Sikh-Muslim love story set in the US.
Chandra, in a release issued here, said the project was “a very adventerous and innovative collaboration between two groups that had never known each other”. The film talks about some very important global issues, she said.
The director and her shooting crew had not met till they arrived in New York for the shoot. Chandra sent her script to Russow and Padro by email. Even the editing was done through the internet, she said.
