Global Indian Film Awards in Malaysia
The Bollywood glamour brigade will be out in full force at the Global Indian Film Awards to be held in Malaysia during December 7-9.
This year’s top grossers such as Karan Johar’s “Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”, “Lage Raho Munnabhai” and India’s Oscar entry “Rang De Basanti” will compete for the best film trophy while Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan are among the nominees in the best actor category, a release said here today.
In addition to the awards ceremony, Ravi Chopra’s much awaited “Baabul”, starring Rani Mukherjee, Amitabh Bachchan and Salman Khan, will have its world premiere at the three-day event.
In other categories, Bipasha Basu has been nominated in the best actress segment for her performance in “Corporate”, Kajol for her comeback film “Fanaa” and newcomer Kangana Ranaut for her role in “Gangster”. Rani Mukherjee (”Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”) and Kareena Kapoor (”Omkara”) are the other nominees.
In the music category, A R Rahman (”Rang De Basanti”), and Shankar Ehsaan Loy (”Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna”) are some of the nominees, the release said.
In the technical awards section, winners for which have already been announced, “Rang De Basanti” took away the honours with four prizes for Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Background Score and Best Art Direction.
Other winners included “Lage Raho Munnabhai” (Best Story and Best Dialogue) and “Krissh” (Best Sound Design and Best Action).
