Anxious to drop the “selective” tag, Bengali actor Victor Banerjee says he “wants to all kinds of films”.

“I want to stop being known as an actor who works selectively. I want to do all kinds of films,” said the actor, who has just finished shooting for Anil Sharma’s “Apne”.

In Anjan Datta’s “Bong Connection”, “I play a bigoted Bengali in the US who looks down on all the fringe people. I throw a chap out of my office because he’s gay. Not a nice man to know,” Victor told IANS.

Victor has worked with Datta before, in “Bow Barracks Forever”.

“I love my character and the film (’Bow Barracks Forever’). Lilette Dubey plays the central role. I play this character called Peter The Cheater who’s a bit of a rogue. This is one film I’m really proud of.”

“Apne”, which stars Dharmendra and his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, is “my first bona-fide potboiler,” says Victor.

“I’ve done Bollywood films before, like Lekh Tandon’s ‘Doosri Dulhan’ where I was totally miscast. In ‘Apne’, I’m far more comfortable. I was told my role was a combination of Clint Eastwood in ‘Million Dollar Baby’ and Rajesh Khanna in ‘Anand’. That did it. No more thought,” says the “Passage To India” star.

“Dharmendra is so caring. He looked after me as though he was the host, which in many ways he was. Bobby was almost like a younger brother and Sunny was the strong and silent type. A complete family, and that’s what ‘Apne’ required,” he added.
