Bollywood star Salman Khan, facing trial in a black buck poaching case, has been exempted from personal appearance in a local court hearing tomorrow.

Khan, who is in Bangkok now for the shoot of David Dhawan’s film “Partner”, said in his plea that if he appeared for the trial, he would be unable to return for shooting because of the sensitive law and order situation in Thailand after last week’s military coup.

His counsel H M Saraswat told the District Court yesterday that if the actor fails to go back to Bangkok, he and his producer would incur huge financial losses.

The court, where Khan has challenged his conviction in two cases of black buck poaching, had earlier asked him to appear on Monday.

He had been granted permission for the foreign trip till September 24, asked to appear the next day, and remain abroad till September 30.

A similar application was also moved before the Jodhpur Judicial Magistrate who is trying the case against him and fellow actors Saif Ali Khan, Neelam, Sonali Bendre and Tabu for killing two endangered black bucks in Kankani village.

Both courts have accepted his plea and he need not appear for hearing tomorrow, Saraswat told PTI.

Khan had earlier been sentenced to prison for a year and fined Rs 5,000 for a poaching case at Bhawad; and given a five-year term and fined Rs 25,000 for another such case at Ghora Farm by the Jodhpur court.
